  1. Not sure how much you can base on a play day but I thought both teams had their moments, good and bad. CSAS, I think, was the only team their that was not impacted by having a football team. I will wait until they play each other in regular season to form an opinion.
  2. Actually Blake (#2) is one of the most proficient passers in the city; his stats can substantiate the claim. The LV game was probably the only game this season that he has had as off night. He was being rushed at times but no more than any other game, he is very good on his feet. Quite honestly, Grace just did not have an answer for Scruggs. If Silverdale can figure out how to stop him, which would be a great accomplishment, then they have a very good chance of winning the game. There is not a great deal of separation between Grace, Silverdale and LV, with Scruggs being the difference maker.
  3. No, Grace plays the winner of CSAS/Silverdale @ 7. Boyd plays the winner of McMinn and Sequoyah @ 5. Both games will be played at Grace.
  4. Tuesday at 5, Boyd vs. McMinn Central (?), at 7 Grace vs. winner of CSAS vs. Silverdale. Not sure of one of the teams, but the time and day are correct. Both games will be played at Grace.
  5. Wow, I was thinking you (51sdad) are as bad as Eaglemaniac, but actually you are a whole lot worse. He can use age as an excuse but you get on here and make claims; “Now a word about class - that would be the act of being gracious, humble, and displaying sportsmanship. Just thought I'd tell you since many of your "fans" and players don't have it.” “However, you've lost your testimony and respect in the community by the arrogant reputation you've earned, and not just among SBA folks. The same characterizations and behavior have been witnessed by other schools as well. It's sad that people who name the name of Christ consistently shame the name of Christ.” “I'm just tired of their arrogance which has truly gained them a poor reputation in the community.” You sure do sling a lot of mud. Then you call a player and his dad out by name. It looks like you’re guilty of some of the same accusations you mentioned. I got so caught up in the drama I forgot what the thread was about. Oh, Temple vs. Silverdale. The additions will help Temple down the road, I just hope they don’t get hurt before basketball season.
  6. Grace Academy 2 Boyd Buchanan 1
  7. Grace Academy 3 Silverdale 2
  8. Growing pains. For a young program the facilities are about where they should be, with the exception of 1 or 2 games they are usually more than adequate. Wish they were better, but it takes time and money. As far as the game, Boyd should win. A single A 4 year program playing a double A, historically strong power. I just hope none of the kids on either team get hurt. I do find it funny that when Boyd asks Grace to play football they honor the request, but when Grace asks Boyd to play basketball their schedule is always full. Hmm?
  9. Saying you’re eating crow and actually doing it are two different things. There isn’t an ounce of sincerity or humility in your replies. You don’t give praise or respect for anyone other than yourselves. You spouted off all year the praises of the West and then as soon as they are out you want to talk about next year. To discuss it with you would be pointless because your response would be based on emotion and ego and not what is actually happening. Yes, there are some very good teams in West Tn., but there are also some in East and Middle Tennessee. Congratulations to Temple and CSAS.
  10. Grace did not start fouling intentionally until 1:53 in the fourth quarter at that time JC had already reached the double bonus with Grace over 10 fouls with JC sitting at 4 fouls. Both teams pressed, and played agressive defense. So no the total count was not over inflated by intentional fouls. Bodies were flying at both ends of the court. Whether they had a good game or a bad game is irrelevant. You may draw your own assuptions or speculations as you wish. Nothing against JC, hope they do well, just laying out the facts from the book.
  11. In the 4th quarter fouls were happening at both ends and only getting called on one end. I'm not disagreeing with what you just said it just doesn't pertain to what was happening.
  12. Congrats to Grace on a good season. The game was pretty even most of the way with Grace holding on to the slim lead going into the 3rd and 4th quarters. Then it got a little lopsided. From the book, in the 4th JC was 15/22 from the free throw line, Grace was 2/3. (19 more free opportunities in one quarter?). Total free throw chances for the game JC 31, Grace 10. Team fouls in the second half was JC 5 and Grace 14. JC and Grace both hit only 3 or 4 shots each from the floor in the second half. Both teams played tight man to man defense and had trouble scoring in the paint. I’m not sure how many threes JC hit, they had several good shooters, but other than free throws it was a majority of their points. It sure would have been nice for the girls to have a little more control over the outcome.
  13. Congrats to CSAS, they played with more intensity and made their free throws down the stretch. On a side note, not only will last year's state runner up not being going to state but Union City. last years' champs lost their region semi game to Humbolt.
  14. Congrats Grace, it is an impressive accomplishment for a third year program. Keep it going.
  15. It’s funny when I talk to the players I don’t hear anything disrespectful in regards to CSAS, actually to the contrary. Is this a feeble attempt to work an angle of motivation? This is a big region game, that should be enough to motive both teams. Should be a good game.
  16. Wow, didn’t think it would be that big a blowout. I applaud coach M. for trying to mix things up with the zone but Temple was just to hot from the outside. Skogen had what about 40? You’ve got to enjoy watching Dee play, both the work ethic and the sportsmanship. I’m not sure what was up with the press with a 41 point lead or waiting to pull your starters with a 44 point advantage? I knew there was some animosity between the two teams but that was a bit much. I do hope you guys (Temple) play that well in the State Tournament.
  17. The more you talk the less sense you make. There is no rhyme or reason to your baseless and biased remarks. There is no point in discussing it with you because I’m sure in your imaginary world of if’s and but’s in your mind you would always be right. So back on topic, UC deserves the #1 spot until proven otherwise. …and Grace was the better team, Humboldt proved that.
  18. Any updates from Howard vs. Temple?
  19. Yes I have, they are playing better now than they were at the first of the year. ...and ND beat East Ridge and ER beat CSAS... Not a lock at all, whoever peaks at the right time.
  20. I don't disagree, I'm just saying with what has happened in the season so far that Grace's odds are favorable. JC is playing well, and I don't think I implied that they are cinderella.
  21. Grace has lost the four games to bigger schools in tournament play. To get to the sub state they have to finish in the top two in their region. The second spot will probably be between Grace and CSAS. Close game but they have proven they can bet CSAS. The second place team in the region would play possibly Jackson County. Another close game but one they could win. So, yes I would say the way the district, region, and sub-state is laid out they could return to the Boro.
  22. Any scores? Boys, Notre Dame 66 - Grace 57 Girls, Grace won over Polk by 10. What is Friday's schedule? Thanks.
