They would still have their cow pasture football field had Pilot not donated the money for what they have now. The whole place is a nightmare to get into and out of during football games. The visitor side is the worst I have ever seen in my life.

The natural half bowl could have been an awesome venue if it was utilized correctly. They could have done something like Dorman or Gaffney in SC.

The one with the hammer should drive out toward Seymour for one of the home baseball games. If you come during a track meet, you can also get your walking steps in for the week. It’s like nobody talks to each other.

Eagleton and Alcoa were on the Everett Park softball field the other day also.

    Couple of thoughts:

    1.  I just don't understand all the intricacies in TSSAA transfer rules anymore.    William Blount had a kid that played the final part of the basketball season with them this year,  that played at Hardin Valley last year, and played football for Bearden this year.  I say that to say, I know the coaches and the AD and the Principal at WB and I will never believe they would do something they knew was wrong.  They are men of character.  I BELIEVE the same thing about the coaches and administration at Maryville.  Call me gullible, but these are men and women of integrity in my experiences with them.

    2.  Much like the transfer of the Clemmer kid a couple of years ago, with Smith, the football team is getting a huge boost, but the impact on the basketball team will be just as great or maybe even greater.  With Smith playing post, it frees the Sigmund kid who will be coming back from injury, to play more with his face to the basket.  The Rebels basketball squad in my mind, will be "the program" in East Tennessee next year.

I was just talking to a guy the other night about the basketball impact.

Big game tonight. Maryville hosting West. JV boys at 4:30. Varsity games follow.

    FINAL (BOYS):

    Maryville 56

    West 51

It came down to the wire, but @MHSRebelsMBB wins and claims the District 4-4A regular season title.

Jonathan Woodlee leads the way w/15 points, followed by Alex Akard w/13

Just to add a little something to the conversation, going by the 2022 numbers that were reported, DB is the 3rd biggest population school in the state and SH is the 5th largest.  6 teams in Region 1 so we are looking at trying to pick up 5 games that will help you be more successful when it comes to the playoffs.

If I was looking for a game to help me later on in the season, I'd head across the mountain to the Upstate Area of South Carolina. The schools are similar in size to D-B and S.H. but they are loaded with speed that they would see later in the playoffs. I'd like to see Maryville head that way for a non-region game.

PS. I wish they would build a tunnel under Asheville. I used to think driving though the Pigeon River gorge was the worst part of the trip (from Knoxville). Now it's Asheville construction.

It wouldn't answer everything but how many of those DB SH DB-2 kids are going to different schools?  Also, when you have the Carter County and Greene County All-Stars it makes a difference.  Hard to say what a difference it would make, but I thought a few years ago if those SH kids had transferred to Crockett you'd have had a group that could have possibly made it to State after a year where they went 12-1.  6A is just the worst for going far, kind of like 3A up here.

Crockett would have made it until they played a school from Knox County. 5A has been pretty much Knoxville/Knox County except for a few years lately.

I think Kingsport would be fine with an outsider, especially GQ.  The thing that keeps making me chuckle is the way that people are talking about the DB job like it is the best high school job in the state of Tennessee.

Well it's a large school in a single high school district that can allow students who do not live in the District to attend.

There are only a few that meet this criteria. The one thing it doesn't have, is a large population area right next to the district.

It would be fun to see George take over Carson-Newman. I just don’t know how serious they are about football since Coach Sparks retired.

I’ve talked to some former players who think it’s a possibility. I heard they want to make an announcement on Wednesday. 12/6. I’d rather him go to C-N than a TN high school.

Good story Barn! The old ball coach left just before I got there. I’ve heard lots of good dad gum stories. Lol. I always enjoyed the one of him showing up in the church choir of a prospective “student” that still holds the 100 dash record for murvil - some 45 yrs later.

You had to bring up Buster. I think the record will stand because it was in yards and now they user meters.

To Pack Allen Jones, you gotta go to Cleveland. Former Cleveland player, wrestler and grad and big booster. Not a Bradley guy. (although he, through his foundation has been known to support the wrestling programs at Bradley and Walker Valley at times)

The track facilities are in another location instead of around the field.

But I do get the point about the lack of ability to get from one side to the other, unless you get down on the field around the end zones. I don't know if the announcement about non- re-entry is dictated by the school or by TSSAA. But that was not announced until the play-offs, but in our case, I would like to see them make an allowance for that.

But then I have known of instances where fans at other locations (McCallie) were told they had a visitor's concession stand to serve them, tho.

But I wanted a snow cone.

People see a game from Oakland in the playoffs and they think they can't pass but anyone that saw them when Freeman was the sole starter at QB knows that's not the case. He's going to put up some big numbers when he's a senior

There were a few iffy class against CG, but they straight up whipped us. Game could have been at Oakland and UT wouldn't have made much difference.  CG has been a top 30-40 team in the country all year and it showed.

If you want to see an TN team getting screwed over in a out of state game ask @Blaze45 about the time Blackman traveled to Bowling Green

Red Rebels Rules of Tackle Football (Abridged)

    1. The tight end is always open.

    2. Never play a HS football game in Kentucky.

Oakland can throw it when they want to. And when they do, he'll be wide open.

ALL will be gone! That's all murvul has.....a bunch of cheating ref's too keep their poor team in a game. THE Only way murvul has been able to beat Alcoa since 2019.

A bunch of old men on the murvul city pay role having that much effect on a game that should be between the Players that put the work all summer. Guess what, I'm far from the only one that thinks that!  It will change.

If you don't see it, you're blind.....

    Your association with Alcoa is...
