  1. This one got ugly fast. VERY MUDDY field, and alot of personal foul calls (against OS). Final was 62-7. Could have been worse if Alcoa behaved as classless on the scoreboard as OS did one the field. Lots of shoves in the back after the play and lots of words exchanged (I am sure the words worked both ways). It just kept getting worse. There was a personal foul against OS on their extra point, then at teh ensuing onside another against them. I guess they must be stressed because of their record, but they should work harder to get better, not run their mouthes and act out due to frustration. Sad to see a game get ugly like that. Alcoa coach was telling guys to calm down and not let it get to them and not to say stuff back. Must have rained alot harder in OS than Alcoa though. Thats all I will say about that, but my favorite quote of the night: "Guys, step back to the DRY mud" -Coach Duncan to players on sideline
  2. Sam can do whatever he wants. He had some great catches the other night vs sweetwater, and he will most likly excel in basketball as well. Anyone who has seen him play knows he has real potential. I believe he is near the top of his class, just like both of his brothers. I look forward to seeing him play the next few years. He may follow Ben and Ira to the Academy, but he may very well choose his own path. Can't say enough about Sam, great kid, great family. He is Alcoas future secondary leader, and defensive leader in general. I remember his name on almost every play during the maryville game, and he may emerge as a solid reciever. Everyone focuses on Kyrus and Brian, allowing Sam to become a better reciever.
  3. Next time Alcoa should go ahead and put in their backups, but if the other team keeps there starters in more than a drive or 2 send back in the varsity, we risk hurting our backups and young guys because teams like sweetwater won't pull their starters, they weren't coming back, they should let some other guys play.
  4. 63-20, was 63-6 untill late in the 4th when most of sweetwaters varsity were playing alcoas 2nd and 3rd string, which were trying not to score, running on all 4 downs. I guess it was trying to be respectable, but it was a sloppy game. Good job tornados, now it will be a tough week before they play the best team without a win OS (Unless they on an off chance beat CAK).
  5. Alcoa takes no one lightly, that is why I have no concern about this game. Fans and players are 2 different things. Alcoa doesn't need to move up just because they win, they should play where there enrollment is. Classification is based on enrollment, not winning percentage or state titles.
  6. Sweetwater is kinda pointless to even discuss, as was Wartburg and Rockwood. Alcoa by 49. Now when the best team with a losing record comes around (OS) there will be a ton to talk about, or at least alot of talk to listen too. Alcoa fans could not even post about every game, just sum it up and say alcoa by 40+ untill the 2nd or 3rd round of playoffs. Alcoa- 56 Sweetwater- 7 although I hope for a shutout. Alcoa's stats versus region opponents to this point Average PPG- 50.25 Average Points allowed- 3.5 Points for 201 Points against 14 (All by Loudon)
  7. CAK had better win this one, their is no reason Wartburg or The best team without a win (oliver springs) should have a win untill they face each other for the cellar battle in region 2. I figure CAK wins this one by simply being better. When CAK played Alcoa it wasn't close, but it was more of a challenge for Alcoa than Wartburg. Wartburg looked like a glorified scrimmage, but to their credit they did not lay down and die, they have heart but maybe need a brain a.k.a new coach.
  8. I missed the Toto reference but I did enjoy their band, I believe most people did. They had a large band, and I don't mean to take away from that.
  9. Sorry, Alcoa didn't have a class on 80s music, had they had one.... I still wouldn't have taken it. I took college prep courses to get me ready for college. And so far in my 2nd year of College I have not been asked about TOTO, so I guess its not that important. I also noticed it was 2 different colors, and also it was painted over an old sign, I thought it was multi-colored as a design.
  10. Looks like sweetwater came to play, we will see how they do against Alcoa next week. OS is still the best team without a win, right.
  11. Alcoa already beat CAK handily and Gatlinburg Pitman would occur around the 3rd round of the playoffs, and that would be ugly, not as bad as last year, but still ugly. Alcoas defense is the real deal, I was bothered that Rockwood ran it, but still a shutout. Rockwood, you had a very good band, but the spelling, try again. Totolly 80's, try TOTALLY 80s. And how about BW's autograph session, everywhere he went it was a hat, T-Shirt, and evn shoes if I am not mistaken.
  12. I believe FBE was reffering to Alcoas Region 2 2A schedule, which has been cupcakes so far and will continue to be. The only team who MIGHT lose respectfuly is Booker T., and I don't know much about them, but they are West. Maryville plays Central who is not an easy win, and west may be a slight challenge. Alcoa was no pushover and WB was a possible match. Alcoa played good teams in Maryville, Fulton, and McCallie, but the rest are pushovers. I am glad this massacre will be closer to home, that Wartburg game was too long a drive to see Alcoa pull punches from the 1st quarter to the end.
  13. Wow, I completly forgot about the Rankin factor, I expect quarles to stay for a few years longer though.
  14. It was a very loud game last night, thats for sure. We were running for wrestling practice and every one their commented on how big the boys were and how loud the fans were. We agreed it is louder than most of Maryville Colleges games. I wouldn't take that win over maryville as a victory for them their senior year though, look at the class of 2006, Duck, Warren, and fiegler were "gonna do it", they owned maryville in middle school but never did it in high school. Quarles changes those boys, however I like to think it will mean Alcoa will beat maryville. I keep hoping Alcoa can pull of the big one and be the one to break maryvilles win streak. The future looks bright.
  15. This will be another game where Alcoa will be responsible for keeping their score "fair". Alcoa can put up any amount they want with very little resistance, as will be the case for most of the remaining games, with possibly the exception of Booker T. Rockwood will not be able to keep it close past the first quarter, Wartburg was don ein about 6 minutes of the game, Rockwood may last longer before seeing a chance at winning vanishing. Alcoa is all around more prepared and ready for their region, I would doubt anyone actually believes they will lose again before playoffs. Now is the time for next years Alcoa to get real experience, and the starters to just stay healthy. Alcoa by 42
  16. Because some teams believe it is the defenses job to stop their offense, not their job to stop the their offense, a school of 170 probably doesn't have a ton of depth, I doubt all the starters played the whole game, maybe just him.
  17. I understand it is considered the thing to be done in that case, but it is not disrespectful in my mind if no one takes a knee. They should not celebrate the injury, but taking a knee should not determine class. The way I see it, and I may be wrong, but taking a knee may have been a gesture of praying for the injured, which is a great thing to do. I never played football, so I have never been injured on the field, but I did wrestle, and I suffered a season ending injury to my shoulder my Freshman year of college, some took a knee others did not, they kept warming up, I couldn't tell you who did what, it did not matter to me. As for the coaches, they should check on their player, irregardless of what caliber. As a coach, every kid got the same attention when it came to caring about injuries. I would always check on them and get updates. Taking a knee does not show class or lack of, clapping for the guy getting up does.
  18. It was not even a game. Alcoa had to try harder not to score than they did to score. It was painful and only exciting for a quarter or so but then Alcoa had to tone it down. They were rotating 2nd string players in and out during the 2nd and had the whole 2nd string kickoff team in during the first. Alcoa scored 21 withing the first 6 minutes and 35 in the 1st quarter alone. It was 49-0 at half and alcoa tried their best to keep it down and it was 55-0 at the end. Alcoa even used Sommers as a punter and another backup punter. I was frustarted that instead of seeing a potent offense, which was there, I had to watch a team "try" to not score by running up the middle. Sportsmanlike or not, it was Wartburgs job to contain our offense, not our job. It was like we played defense on both sides. All in all, Alcoas whole team played well, and the JV could have probably won, if they were allowed to run an offense that was to score points. They did very well though, and broke a big run late in the game, but it was called back for offsides.
  19. That figure is sure to go up, they have played Maryville, McCallie and Fulton, all were or have been number 1. I figured out Alcoas stats for last year 729 Points= 48.6 PPG While allowing 185 or around there and a PPG of 12.3. Here are some random stats for Alcoa last year PPG vs region opponents during season 54.66, points allowed 7.83 PPG vs region opponents playoffs included 52.72, points allowed 8.93 That was last year, I expect some explosivness and high scores from the offense, and would not be surprised if they are averaging 45 ppg going into the playoffs. Alcoa this year vs region opponents 52.5 PPG and allowing 7 PPG. Against all opponents alcoa has allowed 15.2, not bad considering opponents.
  20. Does GP have anyone tough left to play before the playoffs, I know Alcoa is through their tough part, I just wonder if GP has anyone left that poses a threat of keeping them from being undefeated if the play Alcoa in the championship.
  21. Oh my, I almost choked on my Captain Crunch reading that one. First of all, Monkeys, thats crossing a line in my book. OS will get it and it will be bad. i know you are just trying to get stuff started, just lay off on the monkey talk there, you make OS look plain classless.
  22. Alcoa might not be there yet, but with their talent, and the regions lack of, Alcoa will most likly be there.
  23. I statred a topic about Alcoa being #2 still, didn't think I said anything wrong. I am pretty sure I posted it, anyone see it, or has it been deleted, there was nothing objectional in it.
  24. Alcoas still #2 so things just got worse for Wartburg. Alcoa may have to show they are #1 for whoever votes in the AP, I will definitly go to see this game now. If its not 56-0 at half Alcoas holding back.
