  1. Thanks Pageman. Lawrence County is blessed with three good schools and each one produces players capable of playing college ball. These girls play against each other during the season and then some come together on AAU teams during the summer. You get to know and care about them. Jana Cross has always been an exceptional player. She will play college ball. It's going to be fun to watch her over the next few years. LCHS is struggling but the season is still early. We have a young team and it's going to take time. They're all working hard and I have faith in each and every one of them. It's good to have Cari Pope back on the floor after months of working extremely hard to recuperate from an ACL injury. Keep your heads up, keep faith, keep working hard.
  2. Jana Cross was absolutely awesome! A great kid with a bright future. She improves her game every day. Congratulations on a game well played.
  3. Sportzter1, the girls who play for LCHS have no control over what is said or not said by a coach, parent, fan, etc. The Loretto girls and Lawrenceburg girls will play a hard game but when the game is over, no matter the outcome, some of these girls will be the friends they've always been. These two teams give the fans and the gate something to celebrate. We get an exciting game and the school brings in a little extra money. What more could you want for $ 4.00.
  4. Pageman, looking forward to having you. The cost should be $ 5.00. Not sure, but that's what we're paying at the gate. The booster club always has some good food. If it's not good, just give a yell and we'll make sure you're taken care of. If you need a pillow and blanket, we'll take care of that too. Have a good Thanksgiving and we'll see you this weekend.
  5. Mustang2Redhawk, no I'm not Jana's mom but I do think she's a wonderful lady. Jana is a great kid with a good head on her shoulders. She's always been a talented athlete and I see nothing but good things for her down the road. I'm proud of her accomplishments in the classroom and on the court.
  6. Loretto and Summertown will play December 18th at Summertown and February 2nd at Loretto
  7. Catie Woods - Lawrence Co. - David Lipscomb Kristen Spann - Lawrence C0. - UTC
  8. It would be nice if teams didn't have to suffer through growing pains but sooner or later they all do. It's just always better when it's the other team going through it. Coulda, shoulda, and woulda can't suit up. The Stone girls moved back to their hometown of Loretto where they're happy and doing very well. The Lanning's moved back to their hometown of Murfreesboro where they're also happy and doing well. I wish them all the best and hope they have stellar high school careers. They would have been an great asset but there's no time to worry or fret about what could have been. The fact of the matter is Lawrence County has some good young talent that will only improve over time. This community will have to pull together, support this team, and it's coaches. I'm proud of the seniors, Kristen, Catie, and Cari for taking their roles of leaders seriously and for taking the younger players under their wings. Go Lady Cats!
  9. Lawrence County has a young team this year. They are playing with two seniors, one junior, three sophmores, and six freshman. We're all praying that Cari is back soon to add more depth down low. Trueballer, every girl on that team has the ability to score. Yes, right now Catie and Kristen has done the majority of the scoring but they also have the experience and confidence that comes with being seniors. There was another player who shot during the BGA game but was 0-9. I'm glad she was trying but the shot wasn't falling that night. Catie and Kristen's shots were falling. Every girl on this team knows basketball is a team sport and they support one another. The younger players will develop but it takes playing time. They have a good JV schedule this year and these girls will get stronger as the season progresses.
  10. She's been out with an ACL injury but is expected back in action the early part of December. It will be good to see her on the court again.
  11. It is never easy to understand the death on one so young. In listening to the family and friends of Chelsea describe her, she was full of life, and lived it to the fullest. Our prayers are with her family, friends, and team. May God's love bless you all during this most difficult time.

  13. I just asked rp44 on the boys thread why the Giles Bench Mob didn't support their girls team in the same manner as the guys. The girls game was very quite compared to the noise they made for the guys. Any comments?
  14. Each and every time our National Anthem is played and I face our flag and put my hand over my heart, I still get chill bumps. When I look at the flag of this Nation, I see the men and women who will never come home, children who grew up without fathers because they believed in this country enough that they paid the ultimate price for our freedom, the many, many men and women of New York who died Sept. 11th. I see the men and women who are now deployed and those who are waiting to go. Respect is respect is respect. I don't want war but if our Commander in Chief states that we must go, then we must go. I've been associated with the military for over twenty years and those men and women believe in what they're doing and so do I. They have my support, my gratitude, my respect, and my prayers.
  15. The "Bench Mob" (sorry Wneely) did a great job cheering Friday night. You guys were supporting your team and you didn't put the other team down (at least not much) to do it. It nearly brought tears to my eyes. Have fun at regionals. I know you guys don't like to be known as the Bench Mob but it is a good name for your student section. You can try and change the name but to those of us on the opposing end you'll always fondly be known as the Bench Mob. Bobcat Nation, Black Sea, or the Black Plague just don't seem to fit. Just my opinion. I do have one question. Why don't you cheer for the girls team the way you do for the guys? It was relatively quite in the gym while they were playing. It was a tough lose at the buzzer and a little noise might have swayed it the other way.
  16. rp44, I always support the Mustangs first and foremost. What can I say, they're my team and I love them. They have my heart and always will. Honestly, there are players I go to watch just for the enjoyment of seeing them play. I love to watch the point guard from Lewis Co. He plays his heart out. I've made no bones about who I like on Giles Co. the most, it's Eric Howard. Shay, Tyler, Cash, and the rest are all very talented players and you know you'll see a good game. I won't be sitting in your cheering section with the students but I do wish your team all the best.
  17. 10bwall--Let's both admit the facts. Wneely got a bit excited in his jumping up and down and unfortunately landed in the face of #20. Was it on purpose, I doubt it. Did #20 push him out of the way, yes he did. Any player should be able to get from the court to the locker room without a fan getting in the way and yelling in his face. I believe you're right that the emotions of the game caused an unfortunate incident. I'm sorry Wneely got tossed but he did and that's the end of that. You guys have a good team and I just don't understand the need to bash other teams and players. It's not just Loretto, but any team you've had to play. You've had a tremendous season, be proud of the talent you have and focus on that. I hope the "Bench Mob" as I do refer to your student section, has fun tonight and throughout the tournament. As you guys support your team on home turf next week, remember that you represent your school, your team, and your county. Let people remember how loud you support your team, not how loud you want to degrade someone else's.
  18. Way to go Lady Cats on the win. Lawrence Co. senior and starting player Ashley Helton was a little under the weather and did not dress for this game. The Cat's bench saw a lot of playing time to give them some experience in tournament play. Keep pushing Ladies, we're behind you all the way.
  19. Congratulations to Giles on the win. Shay did a great job on hitting three's. You guys have a great team and I wish you luck throughout the tournaments. Wneely, sorry you got tossed but the cops did a good job of controlling a bad situation before it got out of hand. It's unfortunate, but in the times we live, safety to everyone involved must be a priority. We've all heard of too many situations at sporting events where fans and players are out of control and people get hurt. I don't believe that any of us want that to happen. Bench Mob, your school has the priviledge of hosting the region next week. Have fun, cheer for your team, jeer the opposing team, but remember you are representing not only your team, but also your school and county. Make us all proud and prove some folks wrong in their opinions of you.
  20. I'm sorry but this story just made me angry. It felt like a slap in the face. When you've had members of your family to die on foreign soil, placed in POW camps, and family who are still serving in the military, it's also a slap in their face. I'm proud to be American and have my family fight for her freedom to express her opinions.
  21. Loretto's Coach Holt (football) has also been deployed. We'll keep him,his family, and the rest of our soldiers in our prayers.
  22. Let me know when you need the tums and Grecian Formula! Perfectionists have one minor setback--no one can ever accomplish the goal but your efforts are truly appreciated. Everyone deserves credit where credit is due and you do one heck of a job.
  23. PageMan, don't sweat the small stuff. I really appreciate your posts and all you do in keeping this board supplied with information. Keep up the good work!
  24. Wnelly, here you are again stirring up stuff that's already been put to bed. You'd give me a stroke if you would say one nice thing about anyone from another team. It doesn't even have to be Loretto.
  25. Wneely, anyone with an ounce of gray matter between their ears knows a win is a win but if any team steps on the court thinking they only need to contain one player from Giles Co., they've made their first mistake. Giles Co. starts five excellent players and has more on the bench. Smith would probably be the first to tell you he couldn't do what he does without the support of his team. Giles Co. fans have every right to be proud of their basketball programs. It shouldn't be necessary to bad mouth any other team or their players to brag on yours. Your record speaks for itself. Some of us would like to support Giles Co. when they're not playing our team but some of the trash that gets put out there sure makes it hard sometimes. Kroger, I read the post. Thanks! Eric Howard is by far my favorite player on the team. He has great hustle, great desire, and the willingness to support his team in any capacity. He seems to be a young man that plays for love of the game. I wish him the best at the next level and he will play at the next level.
