  1. The Region 4-A Tournament is at Watertown this year.
  2. Middleton: Averyale Joy Chelsey Perry- MVP Rachelle Parks Dekedra Mason Clarkrange: Kara Meadows Cheyenne Shaver Brittany Cooper Oliver Springs: Rachel Griffith Emily Griffith South Greene: Taylor Lamb You can go to the TSSAA website and see the list at the bottom of the championship game's box score.
  3. You may have seen them several times this year. However if the only time you saw them happened to be when they played at Sparta, then you saw their worst game of the year. They played that night without Freshman Courtney Pritchett who was arguably their best offensive player. I thought Pickett had a good class A team this year.
  4. Clarkrange led 52-46 and JC's #24 was fouled on a three-point attempt with 11 seconds remaining. #24 made all three free throw attempts to cut it to 52-49. On the third free throw attempt, #10 from Clarkrange and #21 from JC got tangled up on the box out. #10 slung #21 across the lane and was called for a technical foul. #24 from JC made one of two on the technicals to cut it to 52-50. # 24 then made a jumper just inside the three point line to tie the game at 52. Clarkrange called timeout with 1.9 seconds on the clock. Clarkrange tried to baseball the ball down the court and threw the ball out of bounds. It was not touched so JC got the ball underneath their own basket with 1.9 seconds. The Clarkrange defenders turned their back to the inbounder so JC's #10 threw the ball off a Clarkrange defender's back and stepped in to make the layup for a 54-52 win.
  5. You looked up the wrong Byers High School. This is the link for HW Byers in Mississippi. http://www.unapproved website.com/high-schools/byers-lions-(holly-springs,ms)/girls-basketball/home.htm
  6. I don't know how long it has been since Pickett County has defeated Livingston Academy but I think this year it will happen. I pick Pickett by 12.
  7. Cloudland led at halftime 14-13, and trailed 26-24 at the end of three. Union City did not pull away from them until three minutes remained in the game. IMO, that is giving someone all they wanted.
  8. I am going to pick Watertown to win 8- A.
  9. I thought the freshmen from York decided to go to Clarkrange after July. Practice is against TSSAA rules after July until the first week of November. I know you have not seen them because there is no way Clarkrange would cheat and practice early.

  11. All of the womens' camps were cancelled when the coach resigned.
  12. Wow, I hope Riverdale is not moving down to Class A.

  14. Coach Lesley Smith Riddle has been pretty successful against Central during her career at LA. I know she won at Central in the sub-state in 2003, defeated them in the state finals in 2004, and won against them in the first round of the state in 2009. I cannot remember what happened in 06, 07, and 08. I want to say that LA won at Central again during one of these years in the sub-state but it I also think that Central did get one win against them during one of these years as well. Maybe somebody with a little better memory can help me out. Both teams are good. It just comes down to who plays best on that particular night.
  15. It is on page 12 under Interscholastic Athletics Dept of Education.
  16. Any school covering grades K-8 may only play 20 games with tournaments counting as two games each according to the State Department of Education, even non-members of TMSAA. Now I know of several schools who play more than this, but to my knowledge it has never been enforced.
  17. http://tennessee.gov/education/schoolhealth/physed/physed_faqs.shtml The Tennessee State Department of Education states the following: The total basketball games allowed per team in a school which serves any combination of grades K through 8 shall not exceed 20 during a school year. Tournaments shall count as two games notwithstanding the number of games in which each team participates in a tournament. Practice can begin no earlier than four weeks prior to the first scheduled game and shall end after the last tournament or regular season game in which the team participates. The TMSAA rules allow 18 games and a season ending tournament. http://tssaa.org/Handbook/mcalendar.pdf
