  1. Thanks, sounds like it went as I expected.
  2. I'm not sure it's just a perception, it's actually the way it is. A 3 of the last 6 titles not many A schools in the west AA 4 straight all from district 12AA and 9 of the last 10, the only one was Giles County with UT star Tyler Smith AAA last year was the first time in 8 years a team from Memphis didn't win AAA 18 of the last 24 state titles are teams from West Tennessee In 2004 the final day of the state tournament all 6 teams were from the west. The proof is there, the past 7-10 years the west has owned Division 1 basketball.
  3. ok, so i missed the score but i had the spread right. Legend, are you serious about the 19 rebounds? How did the rest of the starters do? Souunds like the final score doesn't indicate how the game really went. If you would give a recap of how the flow of the game went for those of us who didn't make it.
  4. I wasn't at the game but i listened to a good bit on the radio and it sounded like Bolivar was missing shots and Creshaun Holt got a ton of rebounds.
  5. I'm just saying what i feel will happen. I have seen both teams play and i have seen Humboldt play the past 5 years and a total of about 15 games. I mean no disrespect to the Vikings nor do I mean to pump up Manassas. Humboldt has the players and the potential to play with Manassas. The problem is that they seem to have things not go their way in key moments of games. Part of this is plays by the players and part of this is lack of a good play by the coach. One thing that bothers me about Humboldt is that against Union City they lost the 11 point 3rd quarter lead because of the inability to break the press. Once Union City had regained the lead they left the press on and Humboldt never found an answer. I understand that's not the easiest thing to do but the problem is that Humboldt never attempted anything different to try to minimize the effect of the pressure. I wish Humboldt all the best and if they are in fact better and leave Memphis with a victory, I will give them all the credit they diserve but I just don't see it happening.
  6. Home, neutral site, or in Humboldt, I don't see any way the Vikings play within 15 of Manassas. The only way that Humboldt stands a chance is if Wade has about 30 and absolutely lights it up from outside. Manassas 83 Humboldt 65
  7. I disagree, last year in the state tournament against Temple Humboldt choked at the end of the game. They had several chances to take the lead but made a few key mistakes at the end of the game which kept them from winning the gold ball last year.
  8. Not anywhere near what Middleton is capable of, but it doesn't matter, Humboldt, unless they pull an upset aren't going to play Middleton, they're going to Manassas. Neither of the teams from 16A played well tonight and still won. It's just a shame that the substate games aren't played on a neutral site together, that would be one great set of games.
  9. I would love to but not sure i would be able to. I'll be there tonight for sure. I want to see the look on all of the District 15A faces when the game starts. Hopefully the starters will play longer than they did against Scotts Hill.
  10. I have seen Manassas. I am not a fan, just a basketball fan of good teams in general. I haven't seen Union City play this year but i have seen Sisco coached teams on many occasions and i'm sure this one is like most of the rest. Heavily rely on the outside shot because of lack of size inside and get up and down quick and play pressure defense. MJ Brown is a player and there is no denying that. When you look at Manassas, they also play good defense, better than most teams that come out of Memphis. They're very big and quite atheletic for a team of their size. I am not saying that one team will beat the other and don't really care who wins when they eventually meet. I just think everyone should know that Manassas has probaly played about the most difficult schedule possible. However it goes and whoever wins, I just hope both teams don't slip up becasue this would be a great game.
  11. Before I ask, I'm a fan of neither Humboldt or Manassas. Out of curosity, have you seen Manassas play this year?
  12. I haven't read the whole thread nor do I have the time or desire to do so. That being said if this has been brought up i apologize. Liberty was the top team in 13AAA all year but that is a bit deceptive. That district is without a doubt the weakest of the AAA or for that matter AA district west of the Tennessee River. However, last year's Liberty team was the best team in the state regardless of classification. Yes, the Liberty fans were a bit loud and proud of that the had last year. I am not a Liberty fan or will I be, just an avid basketball fan who watches many games.
  13. I agree, a prime example is last year when Raleigh Egypt which was the best team in the state in AAA was upset and didn't get to make it to state where the AAA competition wasn't as tough as it has been in recent years. Another good thing about the way the districts and regions are set up not is district 12AA which includes Bolivar McNairy Lexington South Side formerly Liberty goes east for substate. This provides for more good teams from the state's best area of basketball to produce more teams to compete for the ultimate goal.
  14. I never thought i would be so excited about hearing of so many upsets. Once again Mitchell and BT Washington are in oppsite brackets. Ridgeway sort of did themselves a favor by losing because of the Melrose upset of Central. Now Kirby and Central will meet in the second round of the region and Ridgeway wont' see either until the finals.
  15. Not to knock Manassas at all. I feel that they are the best A team in the state and could easily compete in AA and AAA for a title. I just dont' believe that they are quite the team that Hamilton was in 2006. We're talking about a team that went 39-0 and the top 6 players from that team are playing Division I college basketball. Manassas is good and I think the A gold ball is very realistically within their grasp, but i don't see them being able to handle how aggressive, quick and atheletic the 2006 Hamilton team was. Reminds you of them, yes. As good as? I would have to see a lot more than they have show so far. At any rate, good luck and I hope they make it as far as they should becasue they are a very good team.
  16. After watching the two games from District 16A tonight, i must say that i'm extremely impressed with Manassas as well as Middleton. Both of these teams will be very tough for District 15A teams to compete with. It's just a shame that Manassas is on a collision course with Union City of Humboldt in the sectional game and all of these teams can't move to the Boro.
  17. 2007 - Liberty 2006 - Liberty 2005 - Bolivar 2004 - Bolivar 2004 - Southside and Bolivar played in the championship game.
  18. Wayne was a threat in high school to hit 3's just not as consistent as he is now. I saw him go 2-3 from behind the arch in a district or region tournament game.
  19. We've also got some guys looking good in the NIT Mississippi State Jarvis Varnado Haywood Richard Delk Jackson North Side Reginald Delk Jackson North Side Barry Stewart Shelbyville Jamont Gordon Glencliff
  20. The best players won. Nobody in the state is better at PG than Maurice Miller and he's on his way to Georgia Tech for a reason. Jewaun Long doesn't always fill the stat sheet but he does the little things that make a good team a great team. MJ Brown was the best player on the best A team in the state that had a bad game and was upset in the reigon. A reigon might i add that is one of the best in A.
  21. I feel that Liberty is the best team in the state regardless of classification. That being said, Raleigh Egypt beat Liberty in the beginning of the season in a hall of fame game. It's not on Liberty's schedule but it is on Raleigh Egypt's. It's just a shame that they got upset by Ridgeway and didn't make it because they would have won AAA. I feel for the kids at Raleigh Egypt because the two years Bolivar won AA, they barely beat Raleigh Egypt both times and Raleigh Egypt had chances to win both games. RE's a good program that doesn't get just a lot of recognition. Hope Liberty enjoyed this year because i'm not sure how they'll fare next year in AAA being in the same reigon as Craigmont and RE to name a few.
  22. I feel the level of talent and D1 caliber talent is missing from this year's field, but how could you match the rare year we had last year in which there were 5 teams that were at one time in the year ranked nationally or in the southeast. It seems that outside of AA there isn't a very clear cut favorite. The level playing field has provied some great close games. Just a thought but im gonna throw this out there so you guys can debate it: Last year going into the AA title game everyone, including myself felt it was Mitchell all they way. They were expirenced, TALENTED, and it was their time. No knock to Liberty of last year but it was pretty much the consensus pick that Mitchell would take it. How did it turn out, Liberty with a young team knocked off Mitchell with their 3 D1 signees. Not likely, but what if this year the roles reversed and the much higher regarded Liberty was knocked off by a young Mitchell team. I highly doubt it, but stranger things have happened. Whatever happens, I'm looking forward to a great final to this season.
  23. If Coach Brown leaves Dyersburg, it will be on his own accord not because he is fired. If Sisco leaves Union City for Dyersburg, I feel he would be crazy unless it's just that much money because there is just as much talent at Union City. For a town the size of Dyersburg, there isn't just an abundance of talent. Probably the most talented team they have had in the past few years would have to be the one that lost in sub-state to Hamilton which featured, Jermey Williams, Jay Watkins, Shawne Williams, and another 6'5" plus starter and a very skilled point guard. Some towns have talent and some don't, just the plain truth of it.
  24. Comming in from Vail, Colorado. Can't wait, this is proving to be the longest week of the year.
  25. I'm not too sure that Liberty could have beaten Hamilton last year. Hamilton was much bigger, just as quick and just as if not more atheletic. The reason Liberty beat Mitchell was the lack of gaurd play from the Tigers. Hamilton was quite strong at all 5 positions on the floor last year. I would love to have seen the game though, would have been a classic.
