  1. I forgot to give Coach T my answer to the shorts. I absolutely do not think that the shorts have to be the way they are in the sport of volleyball. I know for a fact that it makes many players unconfortable, and they themselves wish they were different. But also many players and coaches think they are a necessity in order to compete at the highest level. It seems to me that there could be some different style or fabric that would accomplish this goal. But it is also clear to me that it is not such an issue to enough people, players, or coaches, at this time to seriously consider changing or making rules to this effect.
  2. I didn't say that modesty is up to the individual, but I know that many coaches let the team vote on what length of spandex they want. I wonder if this is the correct method. There is an objective standard of modesty in the world depending on what part of the world you happen to be located in. There is also a subjective view of modesty that is as different as the people in the world. We both I think would like to see a wee bit more conservative uniforms, I just don't think that you can depend on the coaches or any other individual to accomplish this. It may take a much more comprehensive change in the way people think, we both know how long that takes.
  3. I have seen tummies in pictures on this website. But to be perfectly honest, I couldn't tell you whether the uniform is green or blue after two teams play because I was too busy concentrating on the game itself. I don't ever remember seeing a tummy. I don't have an opinion about seeing a tummy either way cause its just a tummy anyhow. As far as low rider, there is no need for this imo, if your bellybutton is covered, I don't believe that restricts your movement as say length of spandex on the court. Many players like to wear whatever they consider stylish, even on the volleyball court. As to what is considered modest by an individual might be considered something other by another individual. We live in a world that advertises food with sex among many other products. Its no wonder that the styles are more revealing in sports as well. If they made the boys wear the same as the girls, I am certain we would see a style change in a hurry. Thank God, this has not filtered down in all sports, although the Austrailian women's basketball team wear spandex skin tight on their basketball team. What a world. If there is a better way, I wish someone could present it as a viable option to the present dress. Oh by the way someone posted (Christian school so no spandex), I know plenty of Christian private schools that wear spandex. See how hard it is discussing something that has more opinions than grains of sand and without hurting someone's feelings even if you didn't intend to. The best to everyone.
  4. I believe you have been around long enough to know that being a senior doesn't mean a thing. Its how skilled you are. I completedly agree with you, they don't attack or slant. If the play on defense is more than five or six yards away from many of the JPII players, they act as if they are watching a game on television. They simply stand and watch many times. You can blame the coach if you want to, but maybe some of the players are to blame, its hard to coach heart. And I believe they graduated some players last year that were the heart and soul of the team, just my opinion. But I believe they will beat MBA.
  5. I am going to pick JPII. Maybe 21-13. At the same time one of the MBA running backs may set a school record for rushing yards in the game. JPII's defense is not doing very well. I don't think it is do to coaching, but lack of key personnel. Tate is going to score period.
  6. I believe Father Ryan is going to beat MBA this year by ten or so. But the Irish are to be respected now not later. They are a hard fighting ball club with good coaching and anybody who overlooks them this year might be surprised. The future looks bright indeed. Go Irish
  7. Father Ryan won the tournament at Trevecca this past weekend. Had two or three shutouts and beat JPII in the finals 2-0. Lady Irish have made some adjustments in their game plan. They also won the tournament without the services of a very good player who was injured. Go Irish.
  8. Too many if's. Your post appears intelligent, but your predictions aren't very accurate. Refer back to my earlier post on this game. Perhaps JPII's defense is doing all it can. Do I detect some rumbling concerning the coach. He was up for canonization last year. He still is a very good coach, but you do the best you can with what you have. What time is it? It's not Knight Time.
  9. After having several children go through private schools, I can state without question that whether you are an athlete or not has nothing to do with it. Some of my children played sports, some did not. The maximum amount of financial aid that can be received is 55% of tuition and tuition only. This does not include the various fee's etc that easily amount to two to three thousand more in a year. And if being an athlete has an influence on any financial aid decision, it is the best kept secret in the world. It had no effect on my children receiving financial aid at all. Perhaps some people think the federal clearing house is somehow corrupt. Or perhaps some people just can't look at this issue with a clear head. As to individuals paying for students to go to a particular school, unless you make it a felony, I don't know the solution to that.
  10. Ryan BGA played to a 2-2 tie. Ryam coach has made some player adjustments that seem to be helping the lady irish.
  11. BGA and Ensworth have decided to go Div II AA beginning next season. This was reported in the morning edition of the Nashville Tennessean. BGA gave reasons of being able to compete in all other sports at this level. Ensworth's football coach stated that it was going to be a tough road for them.
  12. I am going to pick ECS by two touchdowns. I just don't believe that JPII has worked out their defensive problems yet. ECS proved that they can play with anybody by beating last years Div II AAA state champion MUS. Granted MUS is probably not the team they were last year. When you give up over 500 hundred yards rushing in a football game, you have problems.
  13. Ryan Blair will be out two to three weeks, (ribs). I don't know if they are bruised, broke, or cracked. There is a short article in The City Paper 8/11/06 about Blair and how he wanted to go back into the game and had to be forced back to the sideline where he stayed. He is a tough guy and all around good person. I hope he heals quickly. There is another quarterback that was very close to Ryan before the starter was named who hopefully can step in and step up.
  14. Do you actually think that would surprise me? It doesn't matter what faith he or she is, should not be making smack statements about any group of people based on religion or any other reason. Since you were partially educated at Ryan, you already know this. Maybe that is why he doesn't. I knew you were young JPII. Anyway take care of yourself and keep me in your prayers, I certainly will you. Don't you see, I really am a nice person as I am sure you are.
  15. Amen to that brother. I believe you hit the nail on the head. Anyway, go Irish in a hopefully good win against Franklin.
  16. Good enough to beat JPII 4-2. Its still a little early, but they may be the class of their region in Div II.
  17. Hey h20dog, I think St Agnes is the team to beat period. I am from the Nashville area, but the word is out, one tough soccer team. Good luck and high hopes for all the teams to be injury free.
  18. I attended the CBHS-Father Ryan game and Christian has a good team. They dropped many passes against Ryan, but the quarterback has a good arm and receivers that can get open. They also have good runningbacks, but the Irish most of the time stopped them. They could perhaps be a little more inventive on their running plays. They are somewhat lacking in their pass defense, but any team that makes many mistakes against them will pay, they are a tough team and Ryan had to play hard to beat them.
  19. I don't drink, so your statement is incorrect and suggests you are prejudiced in your thinking. From now on any statements that you post will be read by me in that vein. I for one will never respond to any post of yours again. You owe the Catholics that read these posts an apology.
  20. I am so happy that you didn't give an analysis about tuition, cause I think respect for you on this board isn't too high. You blow with the wind on your opinions about football, but your opinions about bashing Father Ryan have been very consistent. There is a tropical storm approaching the Gulf of Mexico and if it makes it to Tennessee, there's no telling what you are going to say next. I just get the strangest feeling that you have a love-hate relationship with Father Ryan. I don't need anyone to answer about the tuition difference, its pretty obvious. Let me say that it does make a difference. I personally have never mentioned academics or anything else about JPII on these boards, except on one occasion when I mentioned "the busy work" at JPII, but I do respond to bashing. The tuition difference for non-catholics and catholics has been thousands for at least the past five or six years, so your statement about the difference being only a thousand for the past several years is flat wrong. You are about as accurate on this as you are on your football predictions, and this includes both Ryan and JPII. I hope this animosity toward Father Ryan will subside in your heart. We are sister schools or brother schools whatever you like, all this nonsense about sports is silly. The most important thing is both schools are attempting to build the total human being and send them on to the next step prepared to handle whatever life brings them. Perhaps you can at least agree on that. I personally have experienced the quality education many students have received at Ryan and JPII right up to the present day, so to say different indicates a hidden agenda not based on reality but emotions or immaturity. Oh yeah, you are much better with the clickable icons than I am. Remember always be a lady.
  21. Your responses are never worth a plug nickle or two cents, but I will not call you stupid. And I am not going to classify all people from any school as being stupid etc, because I don't believe that. But I will say this, you just called all Ryan fans stupid, I think most everyone has a clear picture of you little brother.
  22. I am cool as cool can be. The problem is you should not assume things and then call it thinking. And you know little brother, no answer is the answer I thought I would receive from the lady. No need fpr her or you to post again, cause like you stated it ain't that big of a deal except for the tuition charge difference for non-catholics between the two schools. I wonder if that has anything to do with athletics?
  23. It doesn't matter what you say you mean, who really knows. Everyone only knows what you say. You can think what you want, doesn't make it true, I truly believe that Goodpasture will take this one, time will tell. And if you think I am rooting for Goodpasture, wrong again. I want JPII to win. I probably know as many students at JPII as you do. You don't know who I am.So little brother, take care and know that I am a fan too of JPII football, but I will answer any bash of the Fighting Irish as well.
