  1. Old Dad....when will they get better. Well you are already pretty good. In fact, you are a top program in the state. Your other questions....when will the freshman team start getting the attention it deserves, when will you all have a solid and continuous weight program, when will you see more depth on the line. I cannot answer any of those questions because I am not Coach Adeylott and I do not know what goes on there on a daily basis. If I were the coach I would pay attention to the freshman and give them a solid foundation to build upon and include them in at least a portion of the varsity practice. I would have my varsity assistants coaching the freshman up to the standards that I already had in place for the varsity. The weight program is a must. I do not know what kind of schedule Rutherford County is on but having the last period of the day for weightlifting is a plus. If not then after practice or morning conditioning. More than likely most schools go with the after practice option. Have the kids hit a strenuous and continuous weight program. Obviously it cannot be mandatory but it could be strongly encouraged. You will see more depth on the lines when more big boys start going out for football and the genetics change for the better in the size category. I am pretty sure that Coach A knows the fine details that goes into winning the gold ball and that the first time was not luck.
  2. So right now Coach A is #2 behind Rankin. There have only been four head coaches. So in 20 years the coaches not getting it done were moved to administration or removed of their duties.......All four had or have winning records. Coach A's winning percentage is pretty darn high. Now its not on Rankin's level but still really good and better than the other two coaches who were supposedly removed of their duties as coach for having worse records than Coach A.
  3. Thanks to Sweet Science: Riverdale before Rankin: 115-77-2 Riverdale during Rankin: 194-25 Riverdale after Rankin: 47-15 Just some numbers for you.
  4. No disrespect intended but thank you for the stats. So from 72 until 83 the overall record was 69-40. Not bad at all. But as you can see there were several 3-4 loss teams in that time span. Its still good no doubt about that. My point is that some posters say if you are not playing for the gold ball then the coach is obviously not doing his job at Riverdale. To me, Riverdale has been pretty good throughout its existence and still is today. Making it to the quarterfinals is really good as is going 8-2 or 9-1 as many of the teams you listed did. Why isnt that good enough? Sure everyone wants to win the gold ball or at least play for it but reality is that it is something that is very hard to do. You shouldnt want to get rid of a coach that has helped the team get to the quarterfinals for two years in a row. Really, no disrespect intended towards Riverdale's history at all.
  5. So Watts had the program winning a lot of games. Hasnt Coach A done the same thing? So 3 or 4 loss seasons werent the norm? Fill me in, Im a youngster and dont know the overall stats. You know since it is so stupid and all. So if 3 or 4 losses werent the norm then Riverdale must have had a history of going at least 8-2 right? Yet still no gold balls. I would love to know the overall stats before Rankin. I may have to eat my words and if so I will. However, I doubt that would be the case.
  6. How many gold balls before Rankin? You all have made it to the quarterfinals to past two years and for some it is not good enough.
  7. Riverdale opened in the late 70's. I'll round up to 1980. What did Riverdale do from 1980 to 1995? How many gold balls did they win or how many did they even play for? Im just curious since some on here think Riverdale's history has always been that of a gold ball contender. Riverdale was a true contender for about ten years. In that time period you had Riverdale and Oakland and that's it. When Nissan moved to Smyrna all of Rutherford County had a huge explosion in building homes. The talent was very rich and deep. You had a great coach in Rankin who took advantage of this. Now you have added Blackman and Siegel. Plus you have Eagleville now playing too along with MTCS and a host of other Nashville area private schools getting top talent. You may have kids walking the halls. Kids have changed too. Just because you have kids walking the halls does not mean that those kids want to play football. Some may want to concentrate on basketball, baseball, or some other sport. It is becoming more and more rare to see a three sport star athlete. The philosophy here is fifty fifty. Some go coaches go and try and convince those hall walkers to play and some may make a big difference. That difference can be good and it can bite you in the butt too. The other side is do you really want someone on your team that doesnt really want to be there. Riverdale fans support your team. Riverdale is in good shape for the future. Good coaches, good players, and good fans for the most part. Listen to warhawks and pay no attention to spoiled old dad. Old dad I respect what you have to say and I am sure your intentions are good. I always enjoy reading your posts. You tell it how you see it. I just wish you would support your team but I know that isnt going to happen. Heck, Riverdale could have won the gold ball this year and you still would be saying Coach A isnt any good and it was all the players doing to win.
  8. And it has absolutely nothing to do with Metro. You keep knocking Metro but Rutherford Co. is growing more and more and getting more and more like Metro. I doubt it will ever get even close to the same but obviously times have changed from having just Riverdale and Oakland. You really think that Metro teams accept having three and four loss seasons? No they dont, I'll answer it for you. Does it happen? Of course. Just ask La Vergne, Siegel, Blackman for many years, Smyrna for many years, Ravenwood, Centennial, Independence, Wilson Central, Hendersonville, Gallatin, do you want me to go on and on? I can even add Riverdale to that list if you like. A true fan will tell you the truth, but will also support you and find the positives and not harp on the negatives. I true fan will support the team, including the coaches who lead the team.
  9. Wrong....Riverdale was not very good before Rankin. How was the dale before Rankin got there? You again failed to answer my question. You said Riverdale did not accept 3 or 4 wins before the current coach....before Rankin three or four losses would have been a great year. It was accepted at Riverdale. Rankin is what made you so spoiled. His system worked and the timing of his system made Riverdale what it was. He knew the system and his run at Riverdale was over so he moved on. You are still stuck in the past.
  10. Sounds like a fair weather fan to me. I know you supported the old Riverdale right, before Coach A got there. Well how did Riverdale do before Rankin? I have asked you this question so many times and you just will not answer it. Rankin created a great dynasty at Riverdale. He had the coaching ability and the talent to accomplish that task. There were only two Murfreesboro schools at the time. Times have changed old dad. Now you have Oakland, Riverdale, Siegel, and Blackman with Stewarts Creek on the way. Add to that the rapid growth of the Smyrna area and them becoming really good and you have a completely different landscape than when Rankin was at Riverdale. If you are a true fan you will support the team. To say this is not the team I once knew sounds to me like you are being a spoiled little brat. Riverdale has had two really good years outperforming most teams in the state and yet it still isnt good enough. What a joke.
  11. I agree Riverdaleman. Riverdale was really young this year and it showed at times. However, the foundation is there to be a great team next year. It takes time for a program to go through a coaching change most of the time. Oakland did it in a year so there are exceptions but they are few and far in between. Look how long it took Smyrna to become competitive and even more recently Blackman. Some Riverdale fans will not be happy until the warriors start playing for the gold ball year in and year out. That simply doesnt happen very often. Coach A is a good coach and Riverdale is lucky to have him. I dont see him leaving Riverdale any time soon. He may not have all of the fans' support but he does have the administration's support. Im not sure who would really want to go to Ravenwood at this point. At one time I am sure that Woodward probably wanted this job but more than likely not anymore. Who could blame him? Blade leaving Oak Ridge now may be a stretch too. He has them still playing and I am sure leaving now would be difficult. I think a lot would have to be on the table to get a well qualified and knowledgeable coach with experience and I dont see that happening from Ravenwood's administration. So my best guess it that it will be a younger coach trying to get his feet wet.
  12. I like the idea but I think it would only work if you had enough coaches willing to do it. If there were only a handful then what's the point in doing it?
  13. Ah....well I cant see him applying for this position again then. Why would he? The only way I could see him even giving it thought is if the principal came to him and asked him if he wanted the job. Plus I am sure that Woodward would want to bring in his own staff. I really dont think that the principal would have any of it.
  14. Are you saying he interviewed the first time it came open or this time? I agree with Hogan that Donnie Webb would be a good choice and a good fit. Maybe Webb could get runtheball and his buddy to come to Ravenwood.
  15. All of UrRong's posts have been deleted. I guess UrRong was wrong.
  16. I dont think that Gore would leave. He got what he wanted which was a chance to be head coach. From what I hear he has a great teaching schedule. I think he is the Dean of Students or something like that. Im not sure Woodward would leave either. I would love to hear who the Ravenwood faithful would like to see get this job. Where is rappy when you need him or someone like that? Why would anyone want to come to Ravenwood and play the likes of Brentwood and Franklin each year with little or no support from the administration?
  17. I asked a question then gave some possibilities to see if that is what mindless was thinking. There was nothing about what I said that was factual or intended to be factual. There was nothing to be wrong about. I am surprised that Coach T and the moderators would allow someone like you to come on here and make your posts that have no merit or substance to them at all. If someone is wrong why not tell them why you think or know he or she is wrong? Why not say a little more to back up your statement that someone is wrong?
  18. Who do you think it will be from Metro? Gore, Woodward, someone else?
  19. Lol forks and spoons....all we need is a knife.
  20. Nope you didnt miss a thing. Congrats to I Mathers for Mr. Football Finalist.
  21. He may have been joking. It doesnt matter.
