  1. Thanks, south town, I appreciate it.
  2. Well gee sorry, guess I was having a middle age moment!
  3. Amen. I too shall miss the legend that is Roy. As I eat yet another fudge round and weap, I'm reminded of the time when Johnny Carson left the Tonight Show. Just as late night has never been the same, so shall Coach T never be the same. Happy Trails Roy, you'll be sorely missed by all of us high school football fanatics.
  4. Kudos King. Here's a shout out from one veteran to another. I played high school ball and found myself in Desert Storm not long after. God bless all our veterans.
  5. I'm inclined to agree here. I don't know what it is about OS and Wartburg, but the jawing and swinging of the fists has been going on for years, even back when I played for Wartburg. Maybe this will be a cleaner contest. On another note, I think OS wins this one. I just don't think the dogs have enough talent or team speed to hang with the cats. But I will say that Wartburg has a linebacker in Kilby that could probably start for anybody in the area. I think he has like a thousand tackles this season! Is he getting any looks from colleges? Does anyone know?
  6. I have to speak plainly here and say that Wartburg looked terrible last night. I don't know if its a lack of experience or lack of talent or what, but I think the Coalfield game could get quite ugly in a hurry! I figured those kids could at least field a kick off, but I was wrong. Also they were as slow of a team as I've seen in a while. Lastly, I feel that Wartburg will probably be out coached by a mile against Coalfield. It's hard to believe Wartburg was a state quarter final team just 3 years ago!
  7. Well, I've only seen the dogs play in the jamboree, but I have to say that they looked really young and didn't seem to have much depth. But they do have one of the better linebackers around in Kilby. The only problem is Rockwood will probably either double team him or run away from him all night. So even being an old Wartburg alum, I'd have to give the nod to Rockwood in this one. By the way, does anyone know how many players Wartburg is dressing this year? Their numbers seem to be down after losing a big senior class.
  8. Hey, this is just awesome! Congrats young man and I can't wait to see you playing on the hill! This kid is a testament to hard work and dedication. By the way, Mr.Stewart, can I be there when you tell that jerk Saban no?
  9. Absolutely congratulations! After seeing this kid play, this doesn't come as a surprise to me at all. He is a "phenom" in every sense of the word! I honestly think he'll be the best lineman to ever come out of Morgan County. Also, as a die hard Tennessee fan, I'd love to see this kid wear big orange and the power t in a few years! When that time comes, I think we'll be crushing Bama like a pop can-"Parole Tide!"
  10. One thing I've noticed about Harriman for several years under Coach Tapp is how they don't seem to utilize the athletes or speed they have by getting them to the outside on sweeps and plays of that nature. I understand Coach Tapp prefers a ball control offense, but I think this has become so predictable over the years that it tends to be inaffective. I guess it's refreshing to see an old school offense in these days of the spread, but I still think that defenses can read it like a book. But I will say that I think Harriman has a very good football atmosphere and one of the best player entrances I've ever seen!
  11. Smash, old buddy, howzit? Well, I have to say that you guys will certainly have your hand full this Friday! Having seen Coalfield play, I have to say that they're big, athletic, and EXTREMELY fast on defense! Wartburg had a screen pass set up perfectly and this Coalfield kid got there so fast, it looked like he'd dropped out of the sky! Also, their passing game is really hard to defend, as well. I think if Oneida can avoid Coalfield's big plays and control the ball, they might have a chance, but the last thing you want is for Coalfield to get on a roll! BTW, I admire you missing a big game to treat your wife - I need to be more like you, it's a wonder I'm still married during football season!!
  12. Yeah I thought so too- but I was sadly mistaken! I know Coalfield has some very good skill people with great quickness, but Wartburg's secondary couldn't tackle themselves tonight! One play I noticed where at least 4 wartburg defenders could have tackled the back for a loss or minimal gain and they just missed easy tackles. Sorry but while I think #2 is a pretty good QB, I don't know how many tackles he and #12 missed by trying to dive at ankles! Some may not agree, but I think Coalfield"s coaching is leaps and bounds better than Wartburg's. I see Coalfield going deep in the playoffs while I just hope the dogs make it that far! I think they're going to have to play really well to beat OS and maybe Sunbright too!
  13. I'm inclined to agree here. After all, this IS Wartburg-Coalfield, and having played in this game myself, I can say that emotions run high! If the dogs execute and control the ball they might make it a decent game, but Coalfield's defense is really good and the Stewart kid is darn near unblockable! Also, they have a really good running back and probably one of the best recievers in the area in the Tinker kid. That being said I hope it's a good game, but if Coalfield gets going......I dunno! BTW I hope to see a Coalfield -Greenback game this year in the playoffs- that would be the must see game of the year!!
  14. Yeah, I remember Amonette- he played at Wake Forest with some guy named Tim Duncan...............
  15. Nature Boy!!! Where have you been champ? I was watching some of your old matches on U Tube the other day and it brought back so many memories! So are you coming down to the Burg this Friday? Listen, if need be, I can pull some strings and get you a police escort into town! Hey, bring a bottle of your finest Chardonnay and after the game we'll sit and remember uou and the 4 horsemen and such-just don't bring your girls-don't think the wife would like that very much. Welcome back space mountain!
  16. Well, that explains EVERYTHING! Not many people get up from a nature boy beat down! As for the rough patches- hey, I've been there! Flair started a Harem? Surely you jest.....isn't that illegal in Scott County? Nonetheless Kaz, it's good to have you back- you and I have gone back and forth for years on here.......but the smart money says we'll never see Flair again!
  17. I don't believe it- the rebirth of Kaz! Where have you been anyway? And what have you done with Flair? BTW I can't make heads or tales of Wartburg- they looked good on both sides of the ball against Cumberland Gap- a game they should have won- and then get blown out by Pigeon Forge; just doesn't make any sense! But I expect Oneida to be tough as always, so we'll just have to see which Wartburg team shows up!
  18. Yes, this kid was impressive. Where's he at now, anyway? Surely he played college ball!
  19. I just read where in an article where Jay Moore "turned down a coaching job to stay at Webb." Could it be Wartburg offered and he turned them down? Anyway I hope Wartburg gets a quality coach because they're retuning experience and talent this season. But personally, I don't think Shoemaker is the answer. I was surprised to see him back on the sidelines last season after he said he resigned the head coaching job for health reasons. Go figure.
  20. Hey, Smash, old buddy! I have to concur here. If you were cool back in the day, you had to own "License To Ill!" I remember many a night cruisin' through the Burg with "No Sleep 'Till Brooklyn" blasting through the old Chevy speakers! I still crank it up every once in a while(though the wife doesn't care for it much!) But this world did lose a music pioneer in MCA! BTW,Smash, I'm kinda hibernating now because of a lack of a REAL sport during spring and summer, but as sonn as scrimmages start, I'll be giving you a shout! BTW, I heard you all got Coach Lambert back-good deal!
  21. I was refering to the kid from Coalfield that's started since his 8th grade year and made all state last year. I can't think of his name right off hand, but I think he's future D1 material without a doubt!
  22. So the England kid isn't playing college ball? I don't understand that at all! But anyway it could be an interesting year in MO County. I think Wartburg should be pretty good and Coalfield should be also. It will be hard to believe that one big lineman will only be a sophomore-that's scary!!
