I don't think South Pitt has played many teams that are as physical up front as Gordonsville will be this week. Also I don't think the Pirates have seen many players quite like Justin Smith throughout this year.

Deaunte Mason is the Firebirds best overall player and he's also the best overall player in Region 4-3A. Bailey ruptured his spleen in a week five win against Portland. He didn't play in the entire second half of the season nor did he play in the postseason. Football is very important however it's not important enough to risk a young man's life over. I feel bad for Bailey but he had an all-region caliber year IMO.

Losing Baker & Newton is why I picked Harpeth to finish #2 in the district. You can't just automatically replace two inside warriors like those guys were for the Indians.

The big quarterback presents multiple matchup issues to a White House defense that needs the offense to run the football and keep them off of the field as much as possible. Look for Payne & Dixon to rush for short scores just because the Blue Devils can run the football somewhat but as Station Camp discovered you can't make a living running the football at the Firebirds defense all night long. Mason seems to be on a mission to win a state championship in his senior year.

Maplewood beat both Kenwood & Clarksville. Those are Montgomery County's best two teams and both teams were awesome this year. Good job Panthers. Now put it all together for once against Hillsboro and beat them PLEASE!!!!

Maplewood wins this contest 28-20 on Friday night in a classic. The Panthers quarterback Simpson will not let this team lose again to Hillsboro and I believe that Maplewood has been tested much better in the playoffs thus far than has Hillsboro. Those tests will prove to be great learning experiences in what will be a close game. Beech & Mt. Juliet are two good wins yes indeed but for Maplewood to have beaten the best two teams in Montgomery County (Kenwood & Clarksville) speaks high volumes for Coach Thompson's bunch. Still a football week for the Bolivar basketball team so they won't be 100% until next week after DL takes care of their football team this Friday night. Dyer Co. should win this game. Otherwise they'll never beat Bolivar down the road when the Tigers only get better.

Eagleville was hit with a very tough blow when their starting quarterback to be "Jake Simms" transferred to Sycamore High School. Scharsch had some success building that football program literally from the ground up over there. Jason's biggest years came as an assistant coach under Gary Rankin at Riverdale. He'd be a good fit at Spring Hill. That's all we need in Region 5-3A is another coach to run the spread right????? /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> Page, Marshall Co., Giles Co. (outside of their stack stuff), and likely Spring Hill will all be predominantly spread offensive football teams next year. David Lipscomb & Creek Wood are really the teams that are more of "power football" types of teams that just come right at you.

Houston Co. also got beat by Sycamore by 35 and they've beaten both Montgomery Central & Waverly Central in the last two nights. Friday we will be at the game between White House & Pearl Cohn. If you guys win this week then you'll be in west-TN next week playing either Mitchell or Haywood. Chances are that I will not be there either.
