  1. Rumor isn't true...but wouldn't be surprised if either of those things happen after the final game. Parents are out of control at RHS.
  2. I heard that a decision has finally been made. Anyone have any details??
  3. Wow - what happened to the BHS coach? Why was he fired?
  4. Rector is an ast. coach at Western Kentucky. FYI - Shuman did not want to resign. Warning to any coach wanting to get the Ravenwood job - you better beat Brentwood and Franklin, or you won't last long at RHS.
  5. Don't know if anyone cares, but Ravenwood is supposedly looking for a new head coach.
  6. Can someone explain to me why Hillis isn't used more by Brentwood? Isn't he supposed to be some stud pitcher on his way to UT? And why doesn't he play the field when he isn't pitching??
  7. Dr. Vaden informed Coach Shuman and the team this morning that she was naming Coach Shuman as the new Head football coach of Ravenwood High. Press release went out shortly afterword and should be in the papers tomorrow. On a side note - it amazes me how little most of you on here know about what goes on at a high school. Most of what has been said in this discussion is completely false (i.e. Woodward never applied for the job, etc.). Although I have little, if any, respect for the principal at RHS, I would say that most of what has been said on here about her is false - in regards to the hiring process of the new football coach anyway. Congratulations to a great teacher and coach - Tom Shuman. Who cares if they don't win state again? He's going to make men out of these boys.
  8. If anyone hears a score on Farragut/Ravenwood, let us know please!
  9. speaking of beating Ravenwood - anyone know a score for their game vs. Lincoln Co.?
  10. Ravenwood is 18-14 not 18-4 as it is listed on the TSSAA website.
  11. Have they announced a score for the Ravenwood/Arlington game?
  12. Any word on the Beech/Ravenwood game?
  13. I can't speak for the whole county, but the leadership at Ravenwood should be seriously questioned. The massive amount of coaching changes (for no good reason) are small compared to the rate of teacher turnover at that school. Most teachers that are hired are young and impressionable (also no tenure). Once a teacher gets close to the tenure year, if they aren't a "yes man", then out the door they go. It doesn't matter how much the teacher does for that school or those kids, if they don't agree with the leader then they aren't asked back. The principal only cares about what the parents think - if they don't like something then she'll change it. The past two main sport coaching changes: girls basketball - Steve Williams (after a season in which the team posts a school record in wins, defeats rival Brentwood for the first time, wins his 300th game and defeats undefeated Hillsboro in the tournament) He was told that the school is going in another direction....I guess that means the school wants to lose? baseball - Lee Vaughn (winning records all 3 years as head coach, regional champ in 2006, state tournament team in 2nd year as coach AND was fired on a Friday after spending that week running a baseball camp which raised over $5000 for a program he would no longer be able to coach) I know a kid that Vaughn cut his freshman year and then made the team this year - the kid went home and told his mom, "I made the team, but I wish Lee Vaughn was still the coach." And that's from a kid that Vaugh cut! He was extremely well respected by the players. Vaughn was given the "you don't work in the building" reason by Principal Vaden. She didn't explain why Vaughn was never offered a position at the school (he's qualified to teach high school and there have been several openings over that past several years) Vaughn even asked her if his job was safe after Boucher (the first girls basketball coach) was fired and Vaden said yes! Conveniently she didn't remember this conversation. If anyone out there has the ear of any members of the Williamson County School Board or the Superintendent - tell them they need to do something about the principal at Ravenwood. It's a good school that could be great under the right leadership.
  14. He said something he shouldn't have after a called third strike, thrown out of that game (vs Brentwood) and suspended for the next two. BUT - if anyone saw the game against Ravenwood, that freshman that replaced Morrison at second made some excellent plays and would possibly start for any other team in the district. If Johnson throws against FHS then Overton wins. I don't know if they would do that when they have a must-win game coming up on Friday(?). It would make more sense to save Johnson for that game. Both teams are great, but I don't think either one will advance very far after Regional play.
  15. Anyone know who won today's 11AAA tourney games? FHS vs CHS and Independence vs Hickman Co?
  16. How many innings did Johnson throw?
  17. Anyone know the final score for this 11AAA tourney game?
  18. All-district teams will be named this week. All-state teams are not named until the state tournament has been completed at the end of May.
  19. The coaches have picked the all district team. Not sure when or how that is announced. I did hear that it was a tight vote for district player of the year between Corbin Joseph from FHS and Kes Carter from RHS with the nod going to Joseph.
  20. 1-Overton 12-4 2-Franklin 12-4 3-Centennial 11-5 4-Brentwood 11-5 5-Ravenwood 11-5 6-Independence 9-7? 7-Hickman Co. 4-12? 8-Hillwood 1-15? 9-Hillsboro 1-15? 8&9 play-in game on Thursday. Everyone else starts on Friday at OHS and FHS. I think the first games start at 4:30.
  21. Overton and Franklin 12-4 Centennial, Brentwood, Ravenwood 11-5 and then everyone else.
  22. In the field, Bottoms is the best in the league when healthy. At the plate...not so much.
