Nope, never said Clay would beat you guys. Quit trying to manufacture bulletin board material. I would just rather play at home in the 3rd round instead of driving to SP. -

Those boys played hard. I don't want to look too far to next year, but both these teams will be two of the best in the state in 1A next year, as both are light on seniors. -
It's time for the playoffs. It looks as though CB has struggled this year, but they're 1 step to where we want to be.

I'll have to go back and look, but in the game last we didn't move the ball well, and a couple of scores came when we got the ball inside the 10. Either way, it's moot now. As far as the QB situation, Adams has done an admirable job, and the coaches have done a good job of putting him in good situations. But, Arms playing QB is what's best for the team. He has a stronger arm, is more of a threat to run, and is a load to bring down. He should be the starter going forward. Again, Adams has done well, but he's still a freshman and he's not Arms. But he has the potential to be better than Arms as a QB in my opinion. He's just not there right now. -

For the most part, this game went about like I expected. Last year, when we won 20-0, the game was closer than the score. This year, the game wasn't as close as the score. Gordonsville moved it all night, I feel that at minimum, we left 3 scores on the field being inside the 10 those times. I feel it was more on account of our mistakes rather than Clay making plays. Granted Clay made mistakes as well, but if I counted right, they only had 6 first downs all night, and one was on a roughing the kicker on a 4th and 12. They were still held to close to 200 yards, and 135 of that was on 2 plays, one being a long pass at the end for a td where the defender fell. It happens... Clay will be a different and better team as Arms gets his legs under him more, and I feel they'll give SP a pretty good game. I feel we did a good job of keeping the ball from getting into Kerr's hands, and we were missing a 4 year starter at WR/DB. We'll be glad to get him back. I hope to see them again in the 3rd round. That means we're playing at home, and I always enjoy seeing my Clay County peeps. Again, I feel the game should've been around 28-7, however, Clay's grit affected that more than I like. -

Everyone's giving their score predictions, so I'll give mine. 27-7 Gville. I feel that Gordonsville is 2-3 tds better than Clay looking at scores and film. HOWEVER.... I know for a fact that Clay Co. will play harder than any team we play. They may not have the most athleticism, speed, or size, but they have the most grit, plain and simple, and that can help make up for any deficiencies. So, with that said, I'll update my score... 21-7 Gville. -

It's actually a hard question to answer. I think there are a few position groups that are not as good, simply because we went from playing with dominant seniors to talented underclassmen. As a team, I feel like we might be better, mainly because the large sophomore and junior classes are a year older and more experienced. There are several juniors that started as freshmen, and now they're 3 year starters and have another year to go. But, I also know that as of right now, there are only 3 seniors seeing significant playing time. A lack of numbers in the senior class is a hard obstacle to overcome. Having said all that, honestly, I'm surprised by our record at this point. It is better than what I thought it would be. Offensively, I thought our offensive line would be a very strong aspect of our team. We were coming in with 3 returning starters, and one open spot would be filled by a senior. 2 of those returning starters have been hampered by injuries, so we've been playing 1 senior, 2 juniors, 1 sophomore, and 1 freshman on the O-line, and only one of those started last year, yet they've been getting it done. As always, they can do better, but I've been pleasantly surprised at what they've done thus far. Again, having said all that, I think as a whole we're a little better, however there are a couple of position groups that are not what they were last year. It kind of makes it hard to compare to last year as our strengths are completely different. -
There's a lot of interesting changes in these rankings this week. McKenzie is still way ahead of the rest. Gville dropped around 50 spots and around 10 points after playing RBS. Coalfield is ahead of Gville despite losing to them. SP dropped a lot after losing to Oakland. Only 7 points separates 2 through 9. I think as a whole the 1A teams are ranked higher than normal. 20 McKENZIE 9 0 0 92.87 131.62 78 CLAY COUNTY 9 0 0 84.71 118.04 83 COALFIELD 7 2 0 91.16 117.00 86 FAYETTEVILLE 8 1 0 97.81 116.98 93 GORDONSVILLE 8 1 0 99.94 115.54 105 PEABODY 7 1 0 96.72 113.72 119 DRESDEN 6 3 0 97.75 111.88 123 CORNERSVILLE 7 2 0 96.74 111.23 125 SOUTH PITTSBURG 6 2 0 84.38 111.07 169 CLOUDLAND 8 1 0 77.58 102.07

He isn't the radio guy, but he did have an interview earlier in the year. As far as scheduling Oakland, I've seen where a lot of people weren't happy with Jones doing that. I don't believe it's "having balls" but "lacking brains" with that decision. -

Hopefully he can figure out how to get a few more snaps in. I feel that he would have had a heck of a year if healthy. -

Gville gets the win. I think Gville is a couple of touchdowns better, however, Clay is extra motivated, so that may narrow the margin. -
Is Arms going to be able to play?
-
This has the potential to be a pretty good game.
-
That class has never been big. We actually have 6 seniors on the team. Only 4 were going to start at the beginning of the season. Now, one is injured, and only 3 had started before. To show they've always been small, in jr. pro they never had more than 5 or 6 inthat class play. Plus, there are 3 players at TC that have been in that class at Gville at some point.
-
Sure, they made mistakes, but what I'm saying is TC got up for Friday's games more than others, and the effort was obvious on film. Watching film, there were players who might would take a play off, they didn't against Gville. As far as comparing 2021 to 2012, I never said we are better than 2012. I said we are not. I did say 2012 underwhelmed, meaning they played a few games that were closer than they should've been. Got beat by SC, and I don't think the playoff games should've been as close as they were. As far as being biased, I try to be as objective as possible. Yes, my son is on the team, but he's been injured and hasn't played since the first game. We talk about it, and I'm honest, we have a really long way to go to where we need to be. It doesn't mean we won't get there. We are team that is only has 3 seniors getting significant playing time right now, and it shows.
-
Clay hasn't been completely healthy. They've been missing their QB/LB and their best lineman. The lineman has only been out the last couple of weeks. I don't think the QB has played since week 1 or 2. They've been starting a freshman there.
-
I've talked to several people that's watched film and thought TC played their best game yet, especially when it came to effort. I absolutely think TC can be the 2nd best team in the state, and we may not be at the level of the 2012 team, but that team in my opinion underwhelmed at times, and I think both classes as a whole are down from that year.

Peabody and Fayetteville has had some strange scores. I believe they're beatable. I get a feeling it may be like SP last year. I thought that there was no way City would beat them, but they proved everyone wrong.
