  1. If you're comparing scores, look how Clay beat Scott Co compared to how Coalfield beat Scott and how Gordonsville beat Coalfield. You know as well as I do, you can't solely go off of comparing scores, but it can give you an idea. As far as Cornersville, the game with City was a head scratcher. It makes me wonder if City has regressed.
  2. I saw that picture on Facebook. That doesn't concern me that much as I'm sure Gville got away with some holds as well. However, I think most will agree that you have to call that when it's that close to the play. The biggest call I had an issue with was the roughing the passer. I feel that wouldn't have been called 99% of the time. Either way though, you have to play so that a few calls don't cause you to lose. In talking to some folks, it seems that TC was up for this game more than they had been all year and their coaching staff did some things that hadn't been seen on film. Kudos to them and their players.
  3. It's best that I keep my opinions to myself. Otherwise, I get in trouble.
  4. Taking advantage of mistakes goes both ways, such as the roughing the passer and the fumble already mentioned, along with some other things. Both teams were a little banged up. We're missing two 3 year starters on the line as well. When it's all said and done, Claiborne was the difference tonight. Burnley is just as effective as Calhoun except for passing, and let's face it, how much does that really matter at TC. All in all, I like the way most of our boys responded, and I would've made some different decisions, but I'm not the one making those decisions.
  5. Even with the 2 starters out, Clay shouldn't have a problem. Adams has looked good. He really is outperforming the fact that he is a freshman. Clay will not leave anyone awestruck with their athleticism; however, every player on that field leaves it all out there and they're well coached. Pound for pound, Kerr #44 will be the best player on the field. If he weighed 180 or more, he would be dangerous to opposing players' health.
  6. If this thread is any indication, that one is going to be GOLD! Since it's for gold, TC will win. For those who are harping on the TC - Upperman NO CONTEST, get a grip. Ya'll do realize that Coacht and other websites don't get their records and results from Blake Satterfield. TC has no say in how the records are reported, regardless, they haven't lost on the field, yet. About Friday's game, it will be a tough one. Both teams can be explosive, yet they've shown some inconsistencies. Defensively, both teams are solid. I don't expect a high scoring game at all.
  7. They're all good wins. You TC and H2O guys need to keep talking and forget about Gville. As far as injuries, we've been missing a couple of Oline starters since the first game, and personally, I think they're the two best linemen, so they've been missed.
  8. This game doesn't mean much regarding playoffs, but it's still a big game. Trousdale is the best team we'll see, in the regular season for sure. I look for it to be a good one.
  9. Got it right. 28-6 at half, and we scored two quick touchdowns. The clock was running by halfway in the third. I was worried on the beginning as we came out flat and allowed JB to score on the first drive, but then we scored and didn't really look back. On to TC.
  10. It's still closer than the AP who has Cornersville above Clay after Clay beat them soundly.
  11. 1st region matchup for Gville. It seems we play our best ball against JB. I hope to see it again Friday.
  12. As far as the penalties go, I've watched the film, and many of them were not good calls. The refs didn't have a good night at all.
  13. I'll be honest, I expected a Gville win, and it's still not over, but I didn't expect to be 21 up at any point. It says alot about these kids. They went into the season with only 4 seniors that would likely see significant playing time and 2 others dressed. They're playing with 3 now and only 5 dressed, as one was likely lost for the year in the first game. There has been some freshmen play quite a bit and start, and we're loaded with juniors that many have started since they were freshmen. All that said, I'll be anxious to see what the refs are seeing when calling all these penalties.
  14. How can you see to deliver the mail through all that smoke you're blowing?
  15. From what I've seen, I think Westmoreland gets the win. If Clay had their QB, I would probably go with them. Westy is a good team. They'll get one in the W column Friday.
  16. I would tend to agree this year. However, that has been said in the past about the East, and has ended up not being the case, including last year.
  17. It's quiet because Gordonsville is overrated and everyone knows it.
  18. The only thing about having you best athletes at WR is that it is harder to get them the ball. Adams is good, especially for a freshman, but he's not as capable as Arms. When Arms comes back, they will be more dangerous than they are without him.
  19. When you scrimmaged Clay, they were at full strength. Gville had some key players not dressed when they played Watertown. With that said, Clay hasn't been at full strength the last couple of weeks. We play week 10, and I expect a good one, but I think we'll pull it out.
  20. Monterey wouldn't play Gville either, but they scheduled Pickett...Go figure. I saw somewhere that Grant Strong is playing. Is that right? What number is he?
  21. No one's underestimating them. All I'm saying is that we've played better competition as a whole, and playing in Coalfield will not overwhelm our players. I know it will be a good game and I haven't stated otherwise.
