  1. I'm satisfied that they have all the film on us anyways, and they saw us in person at the jamboree.
  2. Not really. Regardless, the players usually don't do much until Monday. And, we're playing Watertown next week, so there is plenty of familiarity already there. It might be different if we had a region game next
  3. Less than 24 hours.... There's been a lot said on here, and off, that the line pkay will be the difference, and SC has the advantage. I don't think that's the case. I'll predict a Gvill win 20-7.
  4. I will say they look different than in the past few years, and I'm not talking about talent level.
  5. I'd take it for sure. Again, I'm really impressed with their D-line.
  6. Maybe this thread will pick up a little now that it's the actual week of the game. I was overall impressed with Carthage at the jamboree, especially the defensive line and how Rigsby played.
  7. LA scrimmaged Gordonsville Friday, and LA didn't look good at all. I was told that they were extremely young. They will struggle this year.
  8. This is rich... i can see Termite now... Whinemoreland on Whinradio... How appropriate...
  9. I know nothing of Smith except that they "beat" White House in a scrimmage. We looked ok against Dekalb, but looked better against Livingston tonight. I heard that SC doesn't have many on the roster, less than 30, maybe?
  10. There hasn't been any "excited" owl posters since Maynard left.
  11. Figured I'd go ahead and get it started. This will be the first time these teams have opened the season with each other in a while. It was moved to Saturday to allow for more attendance as well. It should be a great environment. Both teams return quite a bit, however, not sure about SC, but Gville won't have a lot of seniors. Best I can tell at this point is that there will be 4 senior starters. However, many of the juniors that will be playing have started since being freshmen. I look for a closer game than last year, but I still see the Big Blue being victorious.
  12. Offensively, we need to fill a hole at RB. We have a lot returning everywhere else on that side of the ball. We lost two WRs as well, but I think we've got the kids to step up. Defensively is where we have the most spots to fill. We lost two all-state DLs, the hardest working, most dedicated ball player I've seen in a long time at LB, and a couple DBs. We've got kids to put on those spots, but it'll take some work to overcome what was lost. We had some depth last year, so that will help. The position of concern overall to me is RB. If my thinking is correct, we'll o ly have 3 seniors that saw much playing time this last year, with 2 of them starting, but one missed half the season due to injury. Our jubior class is large, and there will be many of them on the field that started as freshmen.
  13. What are the "winnable" games SC should schedule? The problem with only scheduling games like that is that it's too often one and done in the playoffs.
  14. I, for one, will admit that I was dreadfully wrong. We played both teams, and I was convinced SP would have a cakewalk. I still think SP had the better athletes, but SP got outcoached in a bad way. City's players were regularly in the position to make plays. Also, it shows what happens when one team wants it more than the other, no matter the talent disparity.
  15. Are the coach/es that have backed out doing so before or after being offered the job? Also, with all the talk of who's pulling the strings from the administration side, could the difference in the last two staffs and Maynard be that he was principal as well, being basically his own boss?
  16. Just a thought from someone across the river... The program is in shambles compared to what it was under Maynard. It's not a dumpster fire, but it's not anywhere near what it was. I've heard a lot of things that has happened that shortened the leash on Murray, however, I don't think one can question the work he put in, at least from what I've seen. One thing that puzzles me is that you really can't ask for a better region record, and 2 years is an awful short time-leash.
  17. I will say this about Fayetteville. They remind me a lot of SP. From everything from their team makeup, skill sets, and uniform colors. They have the potential to be a force in the West for years to come. They are on the line of 1A/2A, but there usually isn't much difference in the top teams in each class. Lincoln County is a larger pool to pull from than Marion County. However, I believe there is more to pull from from outside of Marion than there is outside of Lincoln. This year, the talent gap is wide, but City is one of the top up and coming teams. I believe they'll be really good for a while.
  18. You may be right, but they were only 11 points better against Huntland with the newly eligible players than they were earlier in the season. All we can do is guess until they actually play the game. However, I made a similar prediction about Coalfield, that they weren't as good as Gville, Monterey, and Clay, and many disagreed until they played the game. Fayetteville is quite a bit better than Coalfield. SP is the #1 team in the state, and the gap is wide to the #2 team, whether it's either City or Gville. In this case, City will go down as the #2 team. But the wide gap will be there, and it will be obvious, but they still have to play the game, and they may prove many of us wrong or prove us right.
  19. If I remember right, they were missing a DE, a WR/CB, and a LB. There may have been one more. The DE was the biggest loss as he was the punter as well. We were missing 2 WR/DB's. We played them after having 2 weeks off, and we were rusty in the 1st half. 2nd quarter on it was a different story. I don't believe the players that were out would've made that much of a difference, especially with what we were doing. City fans my disagree, but there's really no way to know for sure.
  20. There has to be a fire somewhere with the amount of smoke being blown on this thread. Let's face it, looking at schedules and common opponents, SP should win by 28+. Gville held City to 1 first down in the 2nd half when they played. SP will outdo that defensively. City has athletes, but none are the caliber of #4, #2, #28, #7, #59, #57, #75, and #64, and I may have missed some. Yes, the game is played on the field and not on paper, but we learn a lot from what's on paper. City shouldn't doubt theirselves, and they should be proud they've reached this point, but the reality is that SP is a much superior team.
  21. Having seen both up close and in person, SP should win going away. City's freshman RB is good and can run, but SP swarming defense will give him trouble. He is still only a freshman. When SP stops the run, and makes City throw, they should be able to get to the QB. City does have athletes, but they're not the quality or the quantity that SP has. And, the offense that City runs is the type that SP does well against. 42-7 Sp
