Redtwin
Is Grapski planning on playing in college anywhere? 825658597 I think he is a better hockey prospect than lacrosse, so he must be pretty good on the ice.
BlockFace20
ATTACK1st team: Dan Gibson (MUS) Penn Bradford (McCallie) Chris Cahill (MBA) 2nd team: Nick Kraus (USN) Austin Colpini (McCallie) Will Taylor (Webb) 3rd team: Tony Heard (CBHS) Davis Chambers (USN) Graham Waters (Houston) MIDFIELD 1st team: Ryan Burns (MBA) Clay Caroland (MBA) Sam Sawyer (MUS) William Hackett (CBHS) 2nd team: Alex Gregor (McCallie) Charlie Abernathy (Webb) Hunter Amistead (MBA) David Hughes (McCallie) 3rd team: Hap Collier (Webb) Andrew Swanson (USN) Spencer Darrohn (CBHS) Tyler Samuels (CBHS) DEFENSE 1st team: Doug Grapski (Farragut) Ben Turk (MBA) James Banker (MBA) 2nd team: Tom Jackson (McCallie) Sam Stringfellow (CBHS) Mark Scales (MUS) 3rd team: (Wide open) GOALIE 1st team: It is a toss up between CBHS' Taylor and MUS' Rainer 2nd team: 3rd team: Harris Abernathy (Webb) 825655042 If Charlie Abernathy doesn't get 1st team then that is some hate. Some serious hate. He and his teammate are leading the league in points and all he will get is 2nd team. The Big 3 are sippin'. Also, if that clown Davis Chambers gets anything then the whole All State selection will be Clowntown, population Davis Chambers.
Kapman4
Well, you do have to look at number of games played. Webb has played 7 more games than MUS and McCallie, and Gibby is still only about 20 points behind them. I haven't ever seen either of them play, but I have seen the three who are mentioned for 1st team attack, and they all could put the ball in the back of the net a lot if they had the oppurtunity. McCallie seems to really spread the scoring around, though, but Dan is obviously getting his chance to shoot (averaging almost 7 points a game). Honestly, all-state selections have a lot of politics, so if the Webb coach really wants to see his players get recognized, he will do his best at the selection committee. I have seen Abernathy play, and he is good. But there is no way you can say he is better than Ryan Burns (MBA), Clay Caroland (MBA), Sam Sawyer (MUS), William Hackett (CBHS), or Alex Gregor(McCallie). And Alex Gregor could easily be first team as well. Now if the MBA coaches want to say Burns and Caroland are attackman, it could free up a space for Abernathy. But when we played MBA, they were definately coming from up top most of the game, playing midfield.
laxordie
I don't think it matters how many games any team plays, just look at the player's averages for points, f/o, and gb's. Gibson is like 4 for points, but he has the highest average in the state so its obvious that if he played the same amount of games as MBA or Webb he would definately be first in all catigories. palmetto6
Numbers alone should not be a very big part of the decision without consideration of the kind of games the numbers came from. Putting up 6 or so points against a division 2 or a lesser team is not as impressive as 3 or 4 against a much better team. Scoring alot in a 15-0 game does not indicate that a player is as good if he had put up points in a good close game. While some of the aforementioned players in the post may be leading the state in points, hopefully the coaches at the conference will consider the quality of the wins and the games. Those same players (top point leaders) have put up big numbers against tough D-1 teams. Basically the top point leaders are all quality players. Some schools that have lack of quality depth will have players on thier team with lopsided numbers. Teams like Webb, USN, Farragut, Father Ryan dont have as much depth as teams like MUS, MBA, McCallie, CBHS. That what makes the things those players (on the temas of Webb, USN, Ryan, Farragut)do so special. The top few players of these schools can compete with the top players of the "Big 4". The Big 4 just have more goood players.
