I was unable to attend the scrimmage, but my sources tell me the Tornados got the best of the Bobcats.

Go Rebs.

I was in attendence. Your sources would be correct.

There were a lot of great plays on both sides, however.

Did I meet you at the scrimmage HTV?  If so, you and your girlfriend are nice folks thumb

If not, I'm sure you're a nice guy anyway  :)

No. I was sitting with a buddy in the green fold up chairs just to your left and up a row. I think you talked to my buddy.

What was the deal with the guy who invited you to the parking lot? I heard just enough of that to know that it wasn't something I wanted to get involved with. :)

And by the way, I don't think my wife would appreciate my having a girlfriend, anyway. :)

So, what were your thoughts? Alcoa is something else, ain't they? We're really really gonna have our hands full with them.

I think y'all will be ready for us as always. Gaston looked great and #14 is a great receiver.

First of all I would like to say I was VERY impressed with the Alcoa team. That may have been the most talented team Ive seen at DanY Boring in a long time. They have some very gifted athletes and plenty of depth. I was somewhat disappointed in our Bobcats as they didnt seem to play with a whole lot of motivation. When the starters were in we were outscored 2-1. However all you Region 3-4A foes shouldnt get real excited as on the 3rd play from scrimmage Kenny Cruze intercepted a tornado pass but was injured on the play and sat the rest of the way, he is also a playmaker on offense, defensively Central was without 3 starters, 2 Dbacks and outside linebacker Robert Longworth, and their best defensive lineman was playing with a broken hand. On offense several young recievers made plays but Cruzes playmaking ability was missed, however the O-line has a ways to go in replacing 3 quality linemen lost to graduation. The Cats have a LONG way to go in gaining depth as when the reserves were in Alcoa had their way almost at will.

Alcoa will win alot of games this year and may prove to the RedRebels that they are NO longer the little brother in town.

My biggest disappointment in the Ctas was the lack of intensity and motivation from the outset.

Were you sitting anywhere near me Pig (seems everyone else was)? Would have been good to meet you.

I saw the same things you did. I think #14 is a nice answer in Cruze's abscense. I hope Cruze will be ok. That was a nice pick and I had totally forgot about it.

Whats the deal with protection man? Zach NEVER gets enough protection, although I will say he just played agaisnt the two best DE's he'll see all year.

Yes, I too am impressed with Alcoa and now a lil concerned

I agree with you 100%. Cruze can make a difference. #14 is AJ Nance. I have a feeling that he will have a break out year, too. Orlando Blair made a couple of nice runs on middle screens in the mold of Terrence Scott.

Like Rebel Nation said, your line didn't do very well in pass protection. If they can improve in that area and give Zach time to find a receiver, Central can be a very good football team, as they normally are.

    • Hmmmmmm doe dee doe doe……sounds like they are leaving Geenback faster than the lawnmower will go in fifth gear.  Hmmmm….. you can bet the lawnmower on that.
    • West looked solid...excited to see this young group excel
    • When you have a school that right at 200 kids only half are going to be male and to get 25% of them to come out for football is a very hard task. Take away an 8th grade syatem and your you have another hill to climb up. If 5 kids are actually leaving your not going to have enough for practice. Your only chances for wins would be against the weakest of weak teams. At one time Greenback had kids coming across the wall like the Mexican Border and now their leaving town before sundown. A hugh mistake was made on not hiring Ryan back because of his ties to the community and his ability to bring in the right kids, not run them off. The last coach failed because he wasn't one of community so they go out and do it again. I'm sure Coach Clemmer is a good person because I do know people that do like him but he is caught in the middle of a fan base that will not support him no matter what and it could lead to a disaster if that many kids are leaving the program. The person that caused all of this mess has no business on the school board and needs to stick with hiding in the bushes giving out speeding tickets to out of towners coming through.
    • My outsider looking in perspective is Oliver Springs, Coalfield, Rockwood, and Harriman: fill out the top 4 good teams that beat up on the bottom and will all be in a good place to win in the 1st round with one team maybe making it farther. Midway: funnily enough in the middle an alright team that can beat the teams below them but not the top 4 misses the playoffs but still has a decent record. Oakdale, Greenback, Sunbright: round out the bottom each team has its problems and with a rough region and challenging non-conference records may not be pretty. Oakdale graduated lots of talent and experience, Greenback is in all sorts of internal turmoil with their new coach, and Sunbright small roster tough region not tons of Fb played. (Teams could be rearranged with other teams in their groups but this is how I see them finishing)
    • Kids quitting to focus on one sport could be a worry but multi-sport athletes transferring out would damage more than just football so I think the people who made this decision could find out they are going to get burned in multiple ways.
