Girls State 4x4 record

There have been a few threads about Rossview's girls, so I thought I'd mention that they ran a 3:52.31 FAT 4x4 at our place last night, which is superior to the current state record of 3:52.74 of Memphis East in 1998. We ran 4:08, which is pretty good, but we were a straightaway plus behind. It was ridiculous. And they can get a little faster than they are now. They should smash the state field in the 4x4. I said earlier this spring that Brentwood should be considered the favorite until Rossview proved they were faster. Well, they have definitely done that, and I eat my words entirely.

I have some unofficial splits.

The race was jaw dropping! On the leadoff leg Trisha Davis put it out there! and Rossview never relenquished it, I knew they could run fast. but not that fast. They can actually go faster believe it or not because........

1st leg Trisha Davis gave all she had, she look like a bat out of... you know where after she had ran the open 200.

anchor leg Lynette Rives can go lower than 57 when she is pushed and she had just ran the open 200, where her and Trisha Davis pulled 1st and 2nd.

Unofficial splits, from handoff to handoff.

Trisha Davis 55.7

Tiffany Rives 60.1

Chimaka Obi 58.2

Lyntte Rives 57.3

congratulations on such a fantastic race and time, still 2 weeks before state. if the splits were taken from handoff to handoff then they could be a little off unless each made the exchange at the line. but nonetheless, a great effort and time. even though it wasn't at the state meet but was FAT, will it still be recognized as the new state record? At one time it had to be at the state meet, but I think they had discussed changing that if the meet was FAT.

Sure...the state 3200m record was set in California as a split as part of a two mile race...that's DEFINITELY not at the state meet. In the field, the official recognized TSSAA girls triple jump record was set in our stadium at regional 2 yrs ago. And Lauren set the high jump state record at Brentwood High last year.

    • Congratulations to Huntingdon and Station Camp. Lots of good softball in Tennessee. Alcoa been media favorite last two seasons.
    • Im more of a Basketball follower than football and like I said we play what we have, there is no going and recruiting or even talking kids into transferring…..and to rebut about Memphis teams in finals I’ve watched Memphis East and Penny Hardaway with the enrollment of a single A team play up and dominate any and all challengers for years! They aren’t the only ones either Mike Miller and son at Germantown put together that super team a couple years ago that ran through the rest of the state! Other teams from Memphis or Chatt or Nash or any large populated area pop up and are relevant out of nowhere every year because they get an influx of talent be it from a new coach or AAU affiliations it happens in football also just like any other sport! I hope these two schools that close join together and get to play the team you support, then you may see it differently! I find it funny some of you think recruiting and resources don’t matter . The county schools get very little funding also but you don’t want to get me started on that part!
    • In a total classless move, Coach Simmons once again shows his true colors. Waits till the day after school is out to let everyone know he is leaving. Fails up to a community college job after a lackluster 2 year span at GH. And do not tell me about the state run that saved a sub .500 season and plenty of whippings by Cookeville and Lebanon.  Looks like the girls job at GH is cursed. Terrible MS program/coaches feeding what is turning out to be a joke of a HS team.
