Who Would Win: Maryville vs. Oak Ridge

If Maryville and Oak Ridge played every year in the regular season, how would the series go? Give your opinion of how it would go and why.

This type of hypothetical question is growing old. Both have fine programs and until the TSSAA decides to go to 4 classification instead of 5 no one knows. Both have fine programs. Each team has the capability to beat the other one on any given day.

Now Rebel, you and I both know there is a difference between a scrimmage and a game. There is no film study, gameplan, or home field advantage, a lot of times the starters aren`t even set. Now while a scrimmage can give you an indication if one team is far superior, it doesn`t mean the outcome of the scrimmage and the outcome of the game would be the same.

 

 

BTW, they would be some great games, same if Maryville hooked up with DB.

They will be hooking up with DB in a few as well. Based on what we've all seen out of Maryville in the Playoffs & State games, Maryville would win more often than not.

I was waiting for that to come up. Not to start an arguement, but the playoffs in 4A and the playoffs in 5A are two totally different animals.

I went to 3 Oak Ridge games last year and 1 MHS game. Both teams looked very impressive. I thought Oak Ridge line was dominating. MHS finesse game and patience on offense was very efficient. Too close to call. Classificaitons doesn't mean much when you have about the same # of players on your rosters. Classifications are determined by school size not program stabiility.

Yeah. They are two different animals. But I see Maryville as an exceptional 4A team that can whip most 5A teams any friday night in the fall.

I`ll agree with that, Maryville would be in the same company as OR, DB, Riverdale and the others. They wouldn`t walk over 5A like they do 4A though.

Maryville would most likey win at least 2/3 of the games because they have a great program. Also, Oak Ridge doesnt have unlimited talent. Maybe every 4 or 5 years they would have a exceptional class with lots of talent. But i still see Maryville coming out on top in the series.

Maryville would beat Oak Ridge more than 50% of the time IMO. I've been to dozens of games at each field, clearly the home team would have a big advantage. But just in the last 10 years or so...Maryville has proven to me that they are better than Oak Ridge year in and year out w/out a doubt.

Let me say i love watching Maryville Oak ridge and DB play but Oak ridge is the best team and even the best school in that area.

My vote goes to Maryville. Sorry Roadrunner - I know you don't like Maryville & AE's old coach is @ OR now. I'm not saying OR can't beat Maryville, but I think in a series between the two teams Maryville would win more. . . just my opinion.
