Class 4A: Region 5 Favorites

First of all, Patrick Johnson is no longer a part of the 2005 Maplewood Panther Football Team, but their highly recruited quarterback Courtney Grimes returns to carry the team. Second, how in the world are the schools outside of Metro going to keep up with all that speed? And do not say they will be able to play ball-control, power football. This is not basketball, that tactic no longer works. The more plays your offense runs, the greater the chance for a turnover, so nix the 20-play drive theory! Besides, the good ole boys are not the only ones growing 'em big! and the city boys are not just relying on speed, they are hittin' the weights hard!! The only way to slow them down is with local help from the zoo!(Zebras = Referees). Lastly, this bunch of juniors in the Metro Schools are the most talented group of athletes to come along in a while. The Gra-Mar kids at Maplewood played the Moore kids at Hillsboro in the city championship game as eigth graders. As freshmen, the juniors at White's Creek won the city championship, beating Maplewood in overtime 12 - 6 in the semi-finals of the playoffs, then went on to defeat Hillsboro in the championship game. I can not speak for the rest of the region, but from the Metro side of things it should be very interesting. The one thing that may be of concern for the Metro Coaches is that they beat up on each other, then lose to a county school and find themselves on the outside looking in.

Shelbyville? Speed!?? What kind of speed are you talkin', and whose got this "speed"?. Sure hope there are several that can run sub 4.6, cause otherwise that ain't speed!

long story, but he is now an ineligible player, but thats not going to stop them

for all of you folks who are overlooking maplewood.. dont do it...its going to come back to haunt you.. the panthers were a force last year ..they just caught a few bad breaks at the wrong time.... they are back bigger and faster ... all i have to say is just dont get caught slipping...RB T.Holt, QB C.Grimes , TE D.Brown.. gonna rip through 4A Region 5 ..just watch..i dont wanna say i told you so.. but lets face it.. i told you so!
