Campbell Co. vs Lenoir City

This is a really tough game to call. Campbell Co. has a very potentially potent offense, but the defense is full of question marks. Last year, the D carried the Cougars for the most part until mid-season when the offense got into a good groove. Brance Stiner and Chris Johnson each have All-State potential and the O-Line looks big and strong. Need a "go-to" WR to step up and the Cougars will score alot of points this year.

Have no idea what Lenoir City will bring to the field. Looking at last year's result vs. mutual opponents, LC beat Scott Co. in week 2 42-13 and Campbell Co. beat Scott 39-12 in week 5. Both team defeated Mo-East, 9-0 for the Cougars in week 1 and 16-0 for LC in week 3.

Gonna be an interesting game . . .

This should be a pretty good game this week, that sounds like the talent level is just about the same...besides one guy....Chris Johnson. I would be willing to bet that no one on Lenior City's roster can touch the talent that Johnson has. I don't know too much about the defense on LC but they need to look out. The defense for CC is definetely not what it has been the past 2 years, but they have some thing to build on. The CC D lost 8 starters from last year, including 5 1st/2nd team All-Region players. We did lose the DC, but the replacement knows the entire defense and should be fine. I'm gonna say this is a pretty close game, with a little bit of points scored.

i heard the kid was a good player but i dont know about the fact that no one from lc can touch his talent...johnson is a very talented player at wr and can make things happen...Hightower has has over 2200 in his highschool carrier...and wieghed only 140 his sophomore year w/ prolly 5 flat 40 speed...so he had something there b/c it wasnt size or speed...last year he wieghed about 160 with 4.9 speed...this year he has hit the wieghts and has gained about 25 pounds over the offseason and can run about 4.5 4.6 speed...u figure it out...

That kid has worked pretty gard to get where he is at obviously is seems. That si just my point of view on the talent issue, I just can't see anyone for Lenior City be able to match him. You will see what I'm saying when Friday rolls around. Hopefully my boys will get it together on Defense before then and keep working on what we started last year. Good Luck to Lenior City and maybe we can compare players after Friday...lol

Im with ccDL92, no one can stop Johnson! He plays RB but can be split out wide. If Johnson would play at OR, Fulton or Central he would be mentioned in about every best player thread that is on Coach T! He has speed, size and toughness! CC does not have to play "great" to win they have to play "good"! If CC plays decent and hop on Johnson's back they should win by two TD's!! Good luck to both teams!

Rubberband man I should have clarified my statement better early Rommel does have bad hearing problems though. Anyways I got some bad news for LC Allen Bean ,starting DT, went down at practice yesterday and he told me that the trainers said it is probably a torn MCL. However he also told me that he still may get to play, but have to have surgery after the season. Also, LC has had some rough practices this week and if they go light for the rest of the week will defenitly be prepared. I still think that LC wins and it is deliverd on the legs of Rommel, and maybe one big pass play by Cusick.

If Bean is out which looks likely you will see a lot of lineman go both ways.

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
