Well....no answer for the Marshall offense...48-41...in an unbelievable track meet.

Macmurray had 335 yds and was completely exhausted...Josh...don't blame yourself for that last fumble... you carried us tonight.

Marshall had too much offense ....300 yds passing.....and capitalized on Page turnovers.

Problem for both teams is poor defense.

Page ...you have two weeks to get it fixed on defense...... BIG TIME!

Marshall will still be a factor in this region.

Now....guys hang in there......in the mean time Bulldog is out of here for quite some time to care for my terminal ill sister and hopefully I can be back before the season is done. I will keep track of you guys. Keep the faith and work hard for making the playoffs.

For those of you keeping track of the weather. Page got about two inches of rain with more forecast tonight. The field drains well and should be in good shape.

By the way, where did the coach from Sycamore that coached at Marshall last year end up this year?

Wet field favors Page????

What a game!!! That's the most action I've seen out of Page fans in years. Even the adults stood and cheered. :thumb:

Josh you did not lose this game. I saw what you said in the paper. You gave it all you had and ran out of gas. And with the beatings and kickings those upstanding young men from Marshall co. gave you everytime you were tackled I'm surprised you could move at all. You are one tough athlete. It takes the whole team to win or lose a game.

Tonight the trouble was in the secondary. We've got to fix it in the next 2 weeks.

This will give us some much needed healing time. You guys keep your heads up.

Neal, the freshman quarterback did a great job while he was in. He will be very valuable as he matures and learns the plays.

The O-line did make some great holes for the backs.

D-line made some great stops.

It's all gonna come together.

I am proud to be a Patriot. You're a great bunch of athletes and we will make it.

Bulldog, I enjoy your postings and our prayers go with you during this most difficult time.

GO PATRIOTS

I tip my hat to McMurray. What he did last night was incredible. He

certainly doesn't need to hang his head the least little bit. Without his

effort in the first 3&1/2 quarters that kept Page in the game, the fumble

at the end would have been meaningless. It was one of the best efforts

I've ever seen out of a high school player. If he doesn't run out of gas

we're probably talking overtime. 48-41 was about as much as I could

stand !!

Take nothing away from our Tigers. They battled hard all evening long

and refused to wilt under pressure, responding to every comeback Page

made. It was a big win for Marshall County, one they had to have to keep

any post-season hopes alive.

PP, one thing those fine upstanding Marshall County players did kick last

night was Page out of the playoffs. Still possible but highly unlikely with an

0-2 start in a very balanced, competitive region.

Everybody thought I was crazy for picking Marshall Co. to win this one but in reality the Tigers are great in shootouts. With a quarterback like Gower and offensive stars like O'Neal, Hunt, Hightower, Davis, Slaughter, and Brown this Tigers bunch is a team capable of putting a ton of points up on anyone when they come ready to play.

I can't wait to see this team in person when we make the trip down to Lewisburg to play in "The Jungle" in two weeks.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
