Greenbrier at Pearl-Cohn

I can't believe that we have gotten this far into the weekend and nobody has started a topic about this game. Greenbrier, a power football team led by the trio of Herndon, Pigg, and Dill, is going to Nashville to play a Pearl-Cohn program that will be looking to win it's first region championship since the 2001 season (that year they shared the Region 6-4A title with a White House team they did not play during the regular season). Pearl-Cohn has a pretty good offense that is led by Bobby Council, who has already rushed for 1,000+ yards and 13TD's on the year, and DeAunte Mason, who is a dual threat quarterback who can beat you with both his arm and his legs.

I see this being alot like last night's WH-PC game meaning that it will be a defensive struggle. I say this because Greenbrier is always a well coached defensive football team that plays extremely physical while Pearl-Cohn is a big, fast, and a very athletic team defensively that is allowing just 8 points per contest on the season (that includes games against teams with backs such as Terrence Holt, Michael Dallas, and Ricky Ladd).

With a win Pearl-Cohn clinches the Region 4-3A Championship and for Greenbrier a win here means that they could win the region in they are able to beat White House in their regular season finale. Good Luck to both of these great football teams because this one as they say is gonna be a "slobber knocker"

PC wins by 21

Just curious Tim, what are you basing the 21 pt spread on? Have you seen Greenbrier play? Did you go to the PC-WH game, or are you just going on a guess?

Greenbrier totally understands the magnitude of next weeks game and will prepare as best we can for a powerhouse like PC, but I think you underestimate Greenbrier with a 21 point spread.

It's no secret that you and I do not agree on much but in this one I will be shocked if either team is able to score 20+ points on the other team's defense.

PC allows 8 points per contest defensively (20 points allowed the last five weeks)

Greenbrier allows 11 points per contest defensively (two straight shutouts)

i don't think that greenbrier can match up with pearl-cohns speed and the size of there line

PC should score more then 21 points against greenbrier

PC could beat greenbrier by more than 21 points

PC is the best team white house has played this season and white house match good against PC even without some starters

Remember....this comes from the same guy who gives such great, thoughtful posts as "who's going to win" and "should be a good one."

Now this is from the ARROGANT Tim who is a typical White House snob that can't stand Greenbrier. He is assuming that White House is at least 2 touchdowns better than Greenbrier and that if White House couldn't beat them, then Greenbrier will just get blown out.

Tim, it is folks like you that make a lot of Greenbrier fans hate the mere mention of your city.

All Tim is attempting to do is give Greenbrier motivation for this week just so his White House Blue Devils can still have an outside shot at winning the region title.

timbdp:

Just about every team Greenbrier has played has been faster and bigger. This includes Sycamore who the Bobcats just beat 19-0, held to 40 yards total offense and only 2 first downs for the game. Station Camp was bigger and faster...they were shut out 34-0. Lipscomb and Marshall County were a lot bigger and faster.....heck even Dekalb was bigger up front.

Greenbrier may be small...and slow.....but they are well coached, disciplined, tough, gritty and play their hearts out every game. These players have played in big games before. They may get beat (not by 21)......but they won't get beat without a total effort on the field. It will be a battle.

We like being the underdog.

Good luck Bobcats.....go pull the upset.

    • I believe that was last year. I was interested in the Jones vs Baker comment, so I went back and looked at GC. I am not a fan of either nor am I a baseball guru. This looks like to me the duel was not close and if the errors would not have been made Eagleville would have won. I assume you are a little biased. I do think your mph for Jeffcoat and Baker must be from last year.  Baker-85 pitches 67 strikes. 5.2 innings, 5H, 1BB, 0ER and 7K's. 3 errors  Jones- 78 pitches 37 strikes. 4 innings, 2H, 5BB, 0ER and 1K. 1 error   Adams and the UH kid are really good as well. What about South Pitt and Oakdale? I heard they have some good ones.
    • I hate this for all the kids in the program and fans alike. I can't recall of anything like this before in my lifetime but I'm sure it isn't a first. After criminal investigations are complete and the TSSAA looks into this the program it will be facing Nuclear Winter for some time to come. It's always the innocent left behind that end up paying the price for something someone else has done. I'm sure the transfer portal will be very active in Clinton over the summer months. How could you find a good coach worth his salt that would take on a situation like this not knowing what will happen.
    • I’ve seen Jeffcoat in person twice and he was 84-87 both times and the one time I saw Baker he was low 80’s, he actually got out dueled by Jones from ER in that outing.
