Marco Daily of Mt. Pleasant could be the most talented HS running back in the state, but I'm not sure that his numbers are as high. The reason for this is quite simple..., he doesn't get as much play time as the guys posting the big numbers.

Although he is only a sophomore, he is the leading rusher for the Mt. Pleasant Tigers, back-to-back regional champions in 04 and 05. Coach Smith, the head coach at Mt. Pleasant, protects his starters when the Tigers take a comfortable lead, so there have been games this year when Marco didn't even touch the ball the whole second half. We've had one game where the B-Team played from about mid-way in the 2nd quarter to the final whistle. Also, there is a lot of other talent on the Tigers' offense, so it makes sense to mix it up a little.

I would wager that even if he doesn't rank in the top 5 for total yardage, or yards per game, (and I have no idea what his numbers are), he is in the top 3 for yards per carry.

Keep up the good work Tigers, and remember rule number five..., Have FUN!

Michael Dallas (Macon Co.) has 1,569 yards rushing right now and he plays Dekalb Co.'s defense this week.

He'll easily end the season with 1,800 yards rushing but it depends on how long Macon's coaches play him this week. They are a playoff team that can't afford to lose their best offensive weapon.

Sky Hicks watch - update:

The Daniel Boone senior is the all-time leading rusher in school history, with a total of 4,065 yds. so far.

For the season now, he has 1,647 yds., and 20 TDs.

Not sure about his yds.-per-carry avg. at this point, but going into the Musket Bowl vs. David Crockett game before last, he was averaging over 8 yds. per carry.

Not bad numbers for a back who usually has to sit most of the 2nd half because of the score....... and he still has at least one playoff game left.
