Another very good team in the Siegel Christmas Tournament is Cannon County. They play in the very very tough 7AA district known as one of the very hard districts in Tennessee. Very few teams come out with wins , no matter the classification, when you play teams in this district. While their record at this time is 5 and 7, it does not reflect the skills of this young fine team which is a pleasure to watch but a difficult opponent to play. It is a great addition to this tournament.

Another good team playing in the Siegel Stars Tournament is the very good South Doyle High School team out of Knoxville. This team plays out of the AAA Knoxville District against such teams as Heritage, Alcoa, Oakridge and Farragut to name a few. They have at this time won 4 and lost 2 against some extremely good competition and are a highly regarded team in the Knoxville Area. They will be stiff competition for any of the teams in the tournament.

After looking at the records of the teams in the tournament, there are some very good teams. It was hard to get a fix on the two out of state teams, one from alabama and one from Ohio. I can assure you Siegel and Coach Bush and his staff, put on a first class tournament usually with teams that are very competitive with each other. It will be a fine event ot see.

One of the out of state teams coming to the Siegel Stars Tournament is the Ft. Payne High School team out of Ft. Payne Alabama. they play out of the tough Alabama Northwest Region in Norwest Alabama. They currently have a 6-2 record as of this date and have only lost to Arab, Alabama twice. They are considered to be one of two teams that will vie for the Regional title of that region.

Welcome to Buckeye Valley High School. During the last school year, BVHS engaged in a number of efforts that contributed to and demonstrated the school's committment to making school an even better place for young people. Here are some of those efforts:

Increased application of team teaching and inclusion of special education students in mainstreamed classrooms

Continued emphasis on preparing students for the Ohio Graduation Test including regular in-class attention to content standards that are a focus of the test

Practice test experience for the class of 2008

Opportunity for parents to "sample" the test

Continued field experience for science students via the marine biology education week in Florida

Review, evaluation and planning for improved advanced educational offerings

Increased utilization of the BVHS link and the Progress Book program for monitoring individual student progress on-line

Lunchtime intramural basketball and ping pong games

Marketing education program once again provided significant job experiences for students and financial support for our school

Students contributed over 8500 hours worked at outside on-site jobs and collectively earned more than $60,000

The school store profited more than $16,000- over $11,000 of that amount was donated back to the National Honor Society, which once again excelled in service to others

Our NHS students participated in more than a dozen community projects

BVHS girls' cross country team became the first from the district to qualify for the state tournament, and the softball team finished as conference, district and regional champions and for the first time in the school's history, played in the state semi-final game

The facility was beautified with some outdoor landscaping, a repaved parking lot, new outside doors, an entrance archway, and opened a new baseball field

Lacy Oliver was just named a second team, mid season all -conference and was called a "long range bomber". Lot to look forward to in this great tournament. Hampton must be loaded.

Wow!!!! Pres, a lot of these Tennessee teams are really rising in the rankings. Hampton, Cannon county, Greenback and South Doyle have risen quite a bit. this is going to be a very competitive tournament. I would suspect that Ft Payne and Buckeye Valley will be good too, and DCA, we know how good they are. Siegel is going to be challenged by a very good field.

Siegel High School is in their third year of existance and is the home of the GREAT SIEGEL NATION. The girls basketball team is Coached by Head Coach Alan Bush, Assistant Coach Hillary Maxwell and Assistant Coach Jay Seals. To start a program and in three years have this program where it is speaks very loudly about the skills of these coaches.

The team is led by 5'9" TK Jones, a senior, who is a prospect for college/university play next year and the leader in scoring so far this year. This is her third year of starting for the STARS.

The post position is secured by three very good athletes, junior's 5'11" Carrie Parott, 6'0" Danielle Spurlock and sophmore 6'2" Claire Waggoner. Parott and Spurlock certainly have the skills to play at a higher level after next year.

Kirsten Sigenthauler, a 5'9" junior, plays inside/outside and is just coming back off of an injury this summer. She is working herself back on the court.

Three sophmores, who are now playing their second year, have certainly made their mark in athleticism for the Stars. Allison Wright 5'7", who is also a cross country runner,5'9" Anna Grace Gerhart, who is also a soccer player and 5'8" Morgan Faulkner, who is also a volleyball player make up a very strong sophmore class that were inserted in to the lineup their first year at the school and seem very experienced in their play. They are definitely basketball players.

Freshman Amy Burns rounds out the squad and is playing her way in as a guard.

This team has played a brutal schedule but was in every game and could be 9-0 with a little luck. They are currently 6-3, losing to some of the states top teams. They are 3-0 in the very tough 7AAA district. This is the third year for this tournament. Siegel puts on a great tournament and you will be able to tell that if you are a player or just a spectator.

hampton , last night beat a good Clay County team is what is called their best game of the season. Looks as if this team is peaking just before the tournament.

Pres, cannon lost to upperman last night but what else is new? It seems that nobody comes out of upperman a winner this year. South doyle lost to farragut in the very tough Knoxville district by eight points and Greenback lost to avery tough Oneida team by two. While these were losses, they were losses to top notch teams.

We do hear a freight train coming and its coming around the bend and its called DCA, last years winner and they beat davidson for their 9th win last night.

Pres, how do you see this tournament shaping up?

While I may not have spelled their name right, DCA's Premier player is Kortni Hester, a very good player. Lacey Johnson and Jessica White are very good players also. This is a very good, quick team and one that is pleasing to watch. They bring some good fans with them also.
