I dont think metro teams are on a decline at all. McGavock will still be solid as long as Broom stays and improves as all coaches should with experience, Overton lost some key players on defense and offense but their defense is always one of the best if not the best in metro, Anderson does an outstanding job on defense, they just need some "o", Whites Creek will be down but they are always big in the trenches, Antioch is changing the offense but sometimes change is exactly what is needed to improve and succeed, Hillwood---were they ever really all that good? I know they were undefeated two years ago but they didnt play anybody good that they beat except for Stratford who lost their quarterback in the second quarter, Maplewood will be good this year and may be a real threat in 4A, Hunters Lane has good coaches and I think they too will be solid this year and will be in the playoffs as the #4 team, Pearl Cohn doesnt impress me too much, they are very unorganized and dont have anybody to keep them in line like Maurice did. All in all I think this could be metros year to take on Williamson County.

You like Antioch, McGavock, and Hunters Lane huh????? That means that either Gallatin OR Hendersonville will be at home watching the playoffs this November according to your preseason predictions correct????? I disagree with you on both Hillwood in 2004 as well as Pearl. I won't clown you for it because the thing that makes this site so great is that everyone is entitled to share his/her opinion. I believe if a team gets to the quarterfinals of the playoffs then they are legit (NO MATTER WHO THEY PLAYED TO GET THERE). They beat both Hillsboro and Stratford that year. Pearl is going to be good. They are loaded and despite the fact that their 3A region is tough let's just say that it's better than playing Maplewood, Hillsboro, Whites Creek, Stratford, and Tullahoma (Region 5-4A) on a week-to-week basis. I believe everyone who is doubting Brunetti right now will realize that he was a good choice at season's end.

I actually would probably go with Galatin or Overton at number one and then Antioch and McGavock fighting for number three. I think Hunters Lane could play the spoiler in this region. They lost a lot of close games last year and I wouldn't bet against them. As far as Hillwood you have a good point but I still say that they weren't really all that great, just my opinion of course. I am not knocking Brunetti and Pearl at all. I will pull for them since they are a metro team. I dont know much about Brunetti so I cant knock him. When I saw them scrimage AHS they looked out of control with no one holding them accountable for their actions. I hope it was just the beginning stages of transition and that Brunetti does well. And as far as their 3A competition being tough---are you saying MW, H, WC, S, and T are week teams?

Metro teams will be OK, there were an unusual number of head coaching changes, but the adminisration needs to make sure each school has quality assistant coaches.

Shadow, you will be unable to get much response from the banjo players, because they have headed to the mountains and the porch.

Do not all metro schools have the same number of assistants?

Will the new coaches get to bring in any help?

I'm saying as a whole Maplewood, Hillsboro, Whites Creek, Stratford, and Tullahoma are better teams than White House, Greenbrier, Sycamore, and Station Camp. That's a reason why I like PC's chances for success.

My bad, I misinterpreted what you were trying to say which is why I asked, and glad I did. I agree I like their chances and I hope they put up a good showing this year.

    • Wouldn't the easiest move be to move McCall up to HS Principal and have Gulley take over as MS Principal?
    • Bounder, you are correct. And it is so easy today. As a civilian today, I can check my 6th grade grandson’s grades in real time. 46 years ago as a young head coach, I knew who were my weak students and would do a weekly check. A decade and 1/2 later as an administrator, I would ask guidance for attendance, and grade reports as I did my own discipline reports. 5 years later I could run all those reports in a few minutes. today Text one the Secretaries and they can create a red flag report only printing the names with D’s and F’s or attendance and discipline issues. You are not even dealing with a whole team. The only problem with modern technology is someone who might not want to know.
    • No I didn't,  I just know jellico lost a few and should in playoffs tho....but they have alot coming in the next few yrs
    • The buck stops with the head coach, he should have know if any of his players  were not making the required grades. Either he has someone checking weekly before games and reporting to him or he should do it himself.
    • Freedom Prep has discontinued their football program. These are the teams that were on their schedule in case you are looking for a game:
