Cash Vs Simpson?

Cash is tough, freshman or senior, but don't assume you know Simpson's mindset, or Cash's.

Kids are watching, but not Simpson, Bundy, Manson, Creagan, Coffey, Bateman, and maybe 5 others. They ain't looking to place and they are not worried who is in their weight.

Add two others FOR SURE... Felix and Wright in the middle weights.

Simpson gramby rolled across his back three times i don't think that is the same as Cash putting him on his back....

Blair "the Ragin Cajun" Reath would annihilate these two insects. They barely would barely make his weight class. My guess, 1st period pin Cash, 2nd period pin Simpson then maybe if he feels like it he will pin the rest of their teams and coaches. Perhaps then, no way, no he could just pin himself late in the 3rd. Ladies and Gentlemen this kid is an animal.

Look, Coach moved him up and they wrestled. I commend Justin and his father for doing it, searching out the best competition. That's how you get better. Now he needs to concentrate on Whittaker and Hughes.

I agree that the best stay the course but I can go thru a list that have dropped or moved up to have a better shot at a state medal. Look at Borneman form Houston last year. He moved down to 160 to have a better chance to win State.

I just read about the Maryville kid at 130 moving to 135. We can go on about this but you are correct some kids step up and say "here I am take me down from the mountain top" more power to them. But next year I see JMS getting pulled down from that top position by young Cash.

Justin Cash is overrated Whitaker of Baylor would beat him, Simpson beat him, I would even move up Jeff Francis of MBA up from 103 to wrestle him and he might even win. Justin Cash is good but he has yet to proven himself in the state tournament against Whitaker of Baylor, Singh of McCallie, Sutter of MBA, and Griffith of Ryan.

I really don't think you can say that Luke Borneman moved down last year because of looking for the best place to medal. Luke was already a proven state champ material (having placed 2 and 3 the previous two years). Not to mention the fact that He was a 152lber the season before so 160 seemed a natural move up. If you are referring to his off-season weight it was a well-known topic that Luke tended to put on a lot of weight in the off-season. Having known Luke for a few years I can say he is not the type of person to run from anyone. Heck anyone who saw his many matches with Nick Marable over the years would likely agree with that.

You may be right. JMS is awesome. However, Justin turned him to his back 3 times and some say there should have been back points on a couple of the turns. It could just as easily be closer next time.

i doubt cash turned him to his back three times and never got points, a ref may have missed one but not three times

Never said Luke ran from anyone but he would have had a tuffer road against Justin Knox of Farragut and Minwell of Clarksville at the weight he was wrestling early in the season.

I don't think winning a state championship can ever be called easy. And according to the TSSAA site Whitaker only beat Richmond (ND) 5-4 and he also had a tough match with Alsobrook (CBHS) in the first round winning 8-5.

Cash and Simpson are two very good wrestlers, but your opinion of Cash is underrated.

Winning a state championship today in Tennessee is less difficult than in the years prior to the D1/D2 split. We have wrestlers today that place in the state (both divisions) tournament that would not have made it out of the old districts and into the regional tournament much less the state tournament. I will be one of the first to say that the majority of state champions are better than the state champions were 20 years ago but the problem is depth. The guys that place 2-6 in the state are not as talented as the wrestlers from years past. For justification take a look at how many pins are being scored in the state finals and consolation finals compared to the number of pins before the split and also look at how many team points it now takes to win the state title.
