Catholic at Webb

Webb seems to have cooled after a strong start but I believe the rival between these two schools will bring out the best in the Spartans. Webb has a strong Powell team away on Thursday before the home game with the Irish. A hard game at Powell could wear some legs in a loss, but a Spartan victory could also add some encouragement for the Friday game.

 

J.T Blair will leads a talented group of seniors that want a victory before graduate. Any thoughts on the game?

This could be a good game. This is as intense a rivalry as it gets. Should be a good game.

First of all...What was webb thinking when they scheduled Powell the night before Catholic??...another reason to hate them...

Should be a good game. The rivalry is as intense as it ever has been. The gym will be packed tomorrow night. Look for a big night from the CCC. They know how to get into the other teams head very well. Look for a big night from Catholic too. They are playing well right now. We'll see what happens tomorrow night.

I see where Powell beat Webb 49-44 in a close game. If anyone went and could share some details...please post.

Good game Webb hit some big threes but just couldnt pull it out

 

IM a powell fan and will say that webb looked to be the better team tonight imo, but thats just me. It was a good game but very low scoring.

In a packed house and what turned out to be one of the most intense high school basketball rivalry games that I've had the pleasure watching, Matt Parton hits a 3 point shot with 1.5 seconds left in the game as Catholic wins 37-35 over Webb.

What an incredible atmosphere - standing room only! Parton buries a come from behind "three" when everyone in the gym knows who's taking the shot. Runner up for Play of the night- Matt Parton dives for loose ball and comes up with a steal, makes an outlet pass from his back ahead to Ryan Walden, kicks ahead to Harrison (Mr. Friday Night) Smith for a two-handed MONSTER JAM. Crowd went nuts and game was delayed for about a minute allowing Webb to gain some composure. One of the best games I've seen in 18 years of watching this rivalry. Hats off to both teams for such an exciting game. J.T. Blair and P.J. Henley really battled for Webb but had little support. In the end, Parton and the other 4 Irish proved what a "Refuse to lose" attitude can do. Catholic student section was HUGE also. A sixth man for the Irish when you play with no subs. Can't wait for the rematch!
