The Braves have announced there Opening Day 25-man Roster.

 

Several players open the season on the disabled list: LHP John Foster, LHP Macay McBride, LHP Mike Hampton (who will miss the entire season), RHP John Thomson and outfielder Kelly Johnson. They were all placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 24.

Blaine Boyer RHP, Lance Cormier LHP, Chuck James LHP, Chris Reitsma RHP, Mike Remlinger LHP, and Oscar Villareal RHP

 

John Thomson RHP - DL

 

The Braves obtained Villareal in a trade with Arizona involving catcher Johnny Estrada.

 

With Thomson beginning the season of the DL, Jorge Sosa moves into the starting rotation.

Adam LaRoche - 1st

Brian Jordan - 1st/OF

 

Marcus Giles - 2nd

RHP Joey Devine, RHP Brad Baker and infielder James Jurries were both optioned to Triple-A Richmond. Jurries finished the spring hitting an amazing .449 with 22 hits in 49 at bats including a team-high 14 RBI.

The bullpen made me very nervous today, allowing I think 5 runs...

 

Nonetheless good win for the braves....

There is only room for one Canadian closer in the Major Leagues and Chris Reitsma isn't the one. The Braves have to find a close or the over rated Mets may take away our streak.
