Hey gotmilk, I have followed this district since 1972 when it was called the Tri-Lakes Conference which had the following teams: Gordonsville, Van Buren County, Rickman, Pickett County, Clarkrange, Red Boiling Springs, Monterey, Celina, Jackson County, and Hermitage Springs. In the mid to late 70's Hermitage was a contending team, with players like Larry and Jeff Clements, the Likens boys, Donnie Birdwell, Bart Clements, I believe there was a Spivey boy also and I know I'm leaving others out as well. I also was an assistant in this league for 5 seasons during the mid 80's, so I feel I probably know this district as well as anyone.

My point is this: The two games I have seen Hermitage play this year is the best I have seen them play since the late 70's! This coach has done an incredible job with this group of young men, and if my son played for them I would be feeling great about the future of this team. Please don't bash HSHS or their fans for being excited about their team because a man starving for food would be excited if all he got was a Ritz cracker! Meaning: 14 wins and a good showing in the district is great for a team that has been down for as long as they have. And yeah I think a 10 point loss to Clarkrange was a good showing!

To the coaches of HSHS, I tried to speak to you after the game to congratulate you on your season but you were busy with your team as you should have been. So please except it now! Hermitage fans also congratulations to you for the excellent way you supported you team tonight and through out the year. To gotmilk: Shame on you for knocking something that is so positive for that community!

Thank-you for listening to my statement!

I don't think the people from RBS are as mean as they sound on here towards HS. They're just having a little fun. They actually know how it feels for someone to bash an athletic program. Their football team gets more bashing than most programs. They've even been talked about on the Nashville radio sports shows. Any time kids will stand out and play for their school, they deserve praise no matter how bad the program is. These kids, their parents, coaches, teachers, and community put a lot of heart and soul into their school, not just the athletics.

Thanks for the comments, DaCoach. We take a lot of pride in our little school on the west end of Clay County. There have been some very successful people from HS. We get more than an education there.

Carry on Cats!

You must not have seen them play in a while then because they finished 3rd in the district tourney 6 or 7 years ago. You can talk about Ritz crackers all you want, the bottom line is HS didn't get it done like THEY said they would. 14 wins against sub-par teams also isn't much of a season (Well maybe 1 or 2 of them were decent). Give the coach stuff a rest too. He is better than the previous ones but he just finished up another typical HS season. Nothing too spectacular about that.

I saw Hermitage Springs play once this year and they have improved alot. The coach used a stall type game and kept the score close, but they still lost. The tall skinny kid (sorry dont remember his name) was pretty good, along with the point guard. They will be very good next year, I see them finishing 3rd behind JC and Pickett Co.

LOL. Are we gonna start this stuff again already?
