Page/Shoney's Invitational - April 8 and 9

Page will host the annual Shoney's Invitational starting Friday, April 7 through Sunday, April 9. Here is the info I presently have along the the schedule:

 

No entry fee

 

Each team needs to supply 3 baseballs per game

 

Time Limits: Normal games on Fri, Sat, & Sun: 1 hr. 50 min, Consolation Game (3rd & 4th place teams) 2 hr., Championship Game (1st & 2nd place teams) No time limit

 

If game is tied at the end of 7 inn or time limit, 1 extra inning will be played to break tie.

 

Tie breakers to determine seeding for Consolation and Championship Games:

1) Head to Head play

2) Least runs given up

 

Cost of admission: Daily $5, Weekend pass $10

 

No coolers please - Full Concessions will be available

3:30 PM - USN vs Eagleville

5:45 PM - Page vs Huntland

8:00 PM - Huntland vs USN

 

Schedule for Saturday, April 8:

 

10:00 AM - Huntland vs Sycamore

12:15 PM - Sycamore vs Eagleville

2:30 PM - Page vs USN

4:45 PM - Page vs Sycamore

7:00 PM - Huntland vs Eagleville

 

Schedule for Sunday, April 9:

 

10:00 AM - USN vs Sycamore

12:30 PM - Page vs Eagleville

 

3:00 PM - Consolation Game (3rd place vs 4th place)

5:30 PM - Championship Game (1st place vs 2nd place)

 

All games have been entered on each team's schedules on coacht except for the consolation and championship games which will be added when the teams are determined based on their play in the previous games.

 

 

With all games canceled for Friday, the Page/Shoney's Invitational will now be a double-elimination format that currently has the following schedule:

 

Saturday:

 

Game 1 - 6:30 PM - Huntland vs Sycamore

 

Game 2 - 2:00 PM - USN vs Eagleville

 

Game 3 - 4:30 PM - Page vs the Winner of Game 2

 

Game 4 - 8:30 PM - Loser of Game 1 vs Loser of Game 2

 

Sunday:

 

Game 5 - 9:00 AM - Winner of Game 1 vs Winner of Game 3

 

Game 6 - 11:15 AM - Winner of Game 4 vs Loser of Game 5

 

Game 7 - 1:30 PM - Loser of Game 5 vs Winner of Game 6

 

Game 8 - 3:45 PM - Winner of Game 5 vs Winner of Game 6

 

Game 9 - if necessary immediately following Game 8

 

This is the revised schedule as of 10 AM Sat.

I know he will be there early getting ready and not leave until the lights are turned off - probably turned off by him!

I'm gonna hide somewhere soon and then climb out over the fence so I can be the last one to leave - bad idea - no one would be there to carry me to the hospital when I fall climbing over the fence.

I believe that I just heard that Williamson Co. schools are closing early today in anticipation of the storms expected later today. I have not heard if this will affect the tournament schedule or not. Page Coach Mike Hollingsworth said last night that he would be at the field at 10 AM today. I will be at the field by noon to check on the scoreboard that was not working last night with our game with Lewis Co. I'm sure Coach Hollingsworth will call the coaches of the visiting teams if there is a change in the schedule. I will post any changes that I find out before I leave home at noon.

After listening to Channel 4 News, the counties which are closing early today are: Lincoln Co., Giles Co. and Lawrence Co. As far as I know now, Williamson Co. Schools are on their regular schedule. More good news - Pete Hughes (father of Page Pitcher Jeff Hughes) called me and said that the scoreboard was repaired late last night around midnight. Thanks a lot, Pete. As far as the weather goes, we'll see what develops later on today. It's hard to predict the weather so it's possible the energy could head north and miss Page's field. I'll post any info as received.

It will be tough...hope no injuries in that area and no field damage.
