drew4444
In the first half Powell was up 1-0 with a goal by Russ Masingal. Early in the 2nd half Josh Plesor scored for Powell off a PK then Oak Ridge came back to score two more by i don't know who then with a few minutes left int the game Powell's Brandon Thrower scored
BigG
Oak Ridge loses to Powell 3-2 for their first district game A bit of an upset, but I wouldn't count Oak Ridge out of it yet. I assume drew4444 plays for Powell?

akula21
I knew Oak Ridge was trying to replace alot, so the early upset isn't impossible. Big G is right, though, don't be surprised to see OR rebound by seasons end to contend in the region.
MWiklund
The rebuilding task is huge as they lost 10 seniors last year and 9 the previous year. Only 1 of this years varsity players was on the 04 team that finished 2nd in Memphis. But the coach has always used a lot of younger players on the girls team and been quite successful. If the team pulls together and develops the right attitude they will be competitive come May.

MWiklund
boys and girls soccer is like night and day in the girls soccer you can get away with using younger players and still be successful but in boys you can't I am aware of the physical differences relating to strength and size with boys. I also am not trying to imply that they will challenge for state but that they should improve as the season progresses. I expect this will be a trying season for Oak Ridge. soccer67
well it not a physical thing its more of a competition thing it doesn't help that they have kid in dallas this weekend for the odp event Actually, it is a physical thing. You can't compare a freshman boy who hasn't started puberty with a senior who has finished. The difference in size, muscle mass, strenghth and yes, competitivness due to increased testosterone production, is astounding. It's just the opposite with girls. The younger ones have a slight advantage in speed since increased estrogen during female puberty adds body fat not muscle to older girls and slows them down.
