In the discussion of Dennis Rogans 41" verticle. Yes Harrison Smith did beat him by a lot. But remember that Harrison smith is about 6" taller than Rogan too. I have not seen Harrison Smith do the verticle jump test. I do believe he jumps 37" or higher. I have seen Rogan, and he jumped 41". Just like Smith beat Rogan in the High jump, we did not see Smith run the 100, 200, or other individual sprint events. I did see him run in one of the relay's, but did not stand out. I know Smith is fast. I have seen him run. They both have their attributes that make them two of the best. Whether or not Rogans 41" was a fluke and just a one time thing he did it.

Meigs County has several big bruiser type backs and one or two smaller, shifty runners. The most notable are:

JR Tyler Mobriant 5'10" 225 4.7

SO Dylan Neely 6'1" 215 4.9

SO Gary Shoot 5'8" 190 4.7

Not speedsters but fast enough and quick to the line. QB Tyler Roberts is a good runners as well and a handful of talented freshmen will play some too. None of these guys are D-1 recruits but all of them are very effecient and could make names for themselves this year.

Not gonna make a prediction cause injury bug can bite quick (just remember that) but i think Jake Reeder (LA) is one of the best backs in the state....got the body of an athlete hands down...rogan, smith and elrod are all great too....there's also a will be jr from LA that was great in gradeschool but tore ACL last year and a sophmore to be that an absolute WORKHORSE

    • Eagleville also loses Brown the catcher, Lamb CF, Mclemore RF (Heck of an athlete) and Drew the 1st baseman. They will be young.
    • Good thing we aren’t in Florida then huh? It would benefit a ton of the smaller schools  that don’t have the pools of kids to choose from! They should start by policing Shelby County like they do the rest of the state! Something has to change though and TSSAA knows that!
    • Correct, you can whimsically be fired in coaching. A coach that has tenure can stay on as a teacher if released from coaching. If you don’t have tenure as a teacher, you can fired without cause. Your last year as a teacher before tenure is earned you can be fired, but must be given cause. A tenured teacher can be fired, but it is a long hard process requiring the 3 D’s…. documentation, documentation and documentation. I have released 3 tenured teachers, 2 with PHD’s. However, teacher contracts had and still have clauses that state you can be fired for a variety reasons re: being arrested, public drunkenness, inappropriate relationships ect.
    • Hopefully you’re not signing off for good. There are a lot of Oak Ridge fans that appreciate your comments.
    • Florida tried urban/rural split two years ago. 4 urban classes, 4 rural classes. Didn’t work. Next year they will have 7 regular classes, 1 urban class for small schools only.
