Loretto.....1..0..4...0..0..1...x.....6..6..2

WP - Mark Lamm - 7 inn - 12 K's

LP - Matt Bowling - 5 inn - 9 K's. Relief by Eric Smith - 1 inn - 1 K

Page scored 1 run in the top of the 1st as Matt Bowling led off with a single to LF, advanced to 2nd on a ground out, stole 3rd, and scored on a single by Kyle Caldwell. Cory Herald also singled as he advanced to 2nd on a throwing error on the play which also advanced Caldwell to 3rd. Lucas Wilmore was hit by a pitch to load the bases, but the runners were stranded as the last two batters struck out.

Loretto tied the game at 1 all in the bottom of the 2nd as Mark Lamm doubled down the right field line with 2 outs and scored on a single by Will Cox.

Loretto took control in the bottom of the 3rd scoring 4 runs as Cameron Hoffmeyer reached base on a fielder's choice and advanced to 3rd on a double to RF by Mark Lamm and both scored a single by Will Cox. Luke Buttrum then doubled which advanced Cox to 3rd and both scored on a double by Ben Wiseman.

Page added their final run in the top of the 6th as Cory Herald walked, Lucas Wilmore singled, and both advanced on a bunt by Kory Hammock where a throwing error allowed Hammock to reach base. Herald scored on a FC by Jeff Hughes.

Loretto added their final run in the bottom of the 6th as Heath Daniels was hit by a pitch and eventually scored on a wild pitch.

It was a cold and windy night in Loretto and the field was a little damp, but the teams made the best of it. Loretto's pitcher Mark Lamm had a shaky start in the 1st inn as Page had 3 singles, but he settled down after that striking out 7 batters in a row. He ended up with a pitch count of 111 and lost a little speed on his fast ball towards the end of the game. Page's pitcher Matt Bowling did well with 9 K's, but the 3 doubles in the 3rd inning gave Loretto a lead that Page could not overcome.

Liger711, 1st baseman Will Cox went 2 for 3. SS Luke Buttrum had a double though. Mark Lamm looked pretty good - I would say he looked about the same as last year. His control was good with only 2 walks and 1 hit batter. There were a few times where he threw the ball into the dirt, but could have been caused by the muddy mound. Bowling only walked 2 and the doubles to RF were unfortunate it that the fielder appeared to have trouble picking up the balls as they were hit. I don't know if it was the background or what.

Yes...Lamm has verbally committed to Vandy...and will be going on a scholarship...I actually made it to the game the other night and heard it...he deserves it... he is a very hard worker and carries the load for Loretto. Loretto also seems to be swinging the bat alot better this year up and down the line up...I expect them to be at the top of their district.

Well said Buford...Lamm looked great on the mound the other night and at the plate...as did the rest of the mustangs against a very good pitcher from Page in Matt Bowling. If Loretto can hit like that against that type of pitching, even though it wasn't ideal pitching conditions, they are going to have a great year. Good Luck Mustangs!
