Who's the fastest runner in the midstate(any running event)?

If you mean literally who is the fastest, it's James Vaughn of Page. No question.

James Vaughn set the Middle Tennessee Sectional record last season, and he literally jogged across the finish line. The second best sprinter Yi Chieh Chang from MLK wasn't even close.

 

Of course James won the gold at state in the 100m as well (vs. the very talented Laray Foote). Vaughn's winning time was a 10.75 (which isn't even one of his top 5 times), and Vaughn beat everyone from AAA and Division II under the same conditions on the same track surface. That speaks a lot for James.

 

Nobody will touch him in Middle TN in A-AA.

James Vaughn is a senior but it will be a battle of the boro with Foote,Vaughn and Bently at State in the 100. Vaughn he is pretty good at the 200 but he is alot better in the 100.

I agree, but the question was about the midstate.

In the midstate I think it is vaughn from Page he is a burner everytime i've seen him run he burns the track up and I don't think any A-AA sprinter will touch him until state then it's going 2 b a battle 4 the title.

Vaughn was not a senior last year. He was a junior, so he'll be back to defend his title as state's "fastest man".

 

And Foote beating Vaughn in the 200m by one step last year (0.14 seconds) does not make Foote the fastest man in the state. The 200m is endurance as well as speed.

 

Any time you watch the Olympics, you only hear the announcers mention "The Fastest Man in the World" during one event. That's the 100m. It's a test of pure speed.

Yup, Michael Johnson proved that when he competed against Donavan Bailey for "World's Fastest Man" in the 150m. Pulled up with a "hammy" after he was getting smoked coming off of the turn. Fastest man will always come out of the 100m, no question.

Well saturday at Kenwood HS in the 8th Annual Kenwood Classic! There should be a heck of a race between Vaughn from Page, Nick Muldrow from Kenwood who has ran 10.79 FAT this year, Travis Carter from McGavock, SHeffield from Beech and Ty Ford from Brentwood Academy! Some on out and see a great show! The Great 8 is a good meet, but it should all be FAT times and not HAND times. They should also allow in relays too to make it a TRUE MEET!
