I was lead to this site by one of my players. I use to read it when my son was playing, but over the last few years have just listened to my players talk about what was on here. Since I have recieved calls from coaches and players, I know from club, about this game, I have decided that this forum may serve me better to address all of you on the issue of this game. So, I joined today and am doing my first post. If I do this improperly, please forgive me I am a neophyte in addressing this site.

Farragut will offer no excuses we lost to a better team on that day. Were they 10-1 better NO, Were they fresher, yes look at our bracket, were we dog tired, yes, Did their bracket offer them a break, yes

We played 4 top 10 Teams that were all hard fought games in 96 hours and then had to play on a HUGE USC field against a Great Team( NorthWestern) that was much fresher team, playing in their home area against a tired out of state team, that lived in a hotel for 3 nights. During the game,They had the step on us on evrything because we were so tired. The Big Field, no, it was a Huge field, gives no mercy for a tired team, they only took 18 shots and scored 10 times, we just could not catch them with fatigued legs.

Our Boys gave a valiant effort, they were not expected to get out their bracket with the teams that had been put in there., YET , we did. Our senior star Ben Lawson was never able to enter the field due to a broken arm. I played every player I had in the final game. No these are not excuses, heck, we were just beaten, but I wanted you to know the facts, so you could make your own judgement. Was it awful, You bet, Was it embarassing, You Bet, is it the end of our season or our potential NO WAY

Several years ago after three good hard fought games the LADY VOLS were stomped in the SEC Tournament Final. Coach Summit said fatigue wore us down, but with some rest we will be ok with the NCAA championships because the games are spread out over a longer period of time and give a good team time to rest to have fair fresh matchups with other teams . She was right , they went on in the next couple of weeks to win the NCAA National championships that year.

Farragut will be a force to contend with this year, The 10-1 score is only a factor to you our opponents if you want it to be. To us , it is over; lesson learned and the rest of the season is ahead to look forward to. I wish all the teams GOOD LUCK and injury free the rest of the year. Thanks for Listening, Coach Wallie

Good post, coach. I wish you had an opportunity to face them again, under different circumstances.

The magnitude of the loss reminds me of a Lawrence Co girls basketball team that went to Ohio in December, 1997 and lost 73-28 to the Ohio state champions. They took that loss as a lesson of how the game should be played and won the TN state championship three months later.

Good luck. You have a great program.

I seem to remember getting soundly beaten by a great team ourself last season, then rebounding to finish pretty well. Farragut will bounce back, and Coach Culbreth will get them going.

Losing to great teams, in my opinion, is much better than beating up on weak. Farragut, and many teams, could go undefeated in regular season by scheduling weaker opponents. Instead, they made it to the finals of a top tournament in the US, against the #1 AAAA in South Carolina.

Many people will take this opportunity to take some pot shots at Farragut. To me, they have never talked smack here, and have shown nothing but class. I know they will bounce back, and I wouldn't want to be the next opponent to play them. Good luck, Admirals.

That's a tough loss, but you guys should take pride in the fact you made it so far and look ahead toward your TN opponents. Have any other TN teams played this SC team? I doubt they'll schedule any TN teams from now on...

Well good luck with your other games Farragut.

Most highschools play their soccer on football fields that are only 60 yards wide, and 100 yards long. College fields are usually 120 x 80. It doesn't seem like a big change until you have to play on it.

Yes, MOST College soccer fields are the full measurement of 80 x 120, whereas the normal BIG Field you are use to seeing is 70 x110. High school often play on football fields and they are much narrower.

Also, Coach Wallie, I respectfully submit, your team played 5 games in 72 hours a total of 400 minutes and the NSCCA recommends only 140 minutes during that time, No woner your boys were tired. ( your Games Wed 4:00 thru Sat afternoon is 72 hourss and 5 games at 80 minutes is 400 minutes. You represented Tennesse well!

okay-thanks-I guess I always thought most of the powerhouse soccer teams in TN actually had their own soccer pitches and didn't have to share football fields. I guess in South Carolina their high school teams actually play on soccer fields so a regulation pitch isn't a factor in their play.
