District Champ decided by coin toss?

Two teams battle all season and end up with same record, splitting the games with each other. Why not a 1 game playoff? Flip a coin to decide who will host and let it be decided on the field. Is this a TSSAA rule?

 

Championships should be decided on the field, NOT by a random flip of the coin.

In our district the teams draw a number( 1-8 since there are eight teams) at the beginning of the season. Any tie breakers at the end of district play are decided by who has the best number, with number one being the best........

They will still be considered co-champions. the coin flip decides the seeding for the tournament. If they are the best two teams then they will meet for the title.

TSSAA only recognizes the district tornament champion and runner-up. Both of these advance to the region tournament. If two or more teams end in a tie for 1st place during the regular season,then those teams are co-champions of the regular season...each district has its own method of breaking the tie for seeding purposes only.

Oh yea, another thing. The district tournament site is decided before the season in our district. Don't know if it is that way in other districts.

In the situation this person is talking about the site of the tournament is decided by the #1 seeded team.

Finally someone has outdone the coin flip prior to overtime in an NFL game. At least those games are decided on the field! Ridiculous, either play it out on the field or decide it by some sort of tie breaker. Some one needs to step up and get this changed.....

Every district is run by their own by-laws. If they don't like the tie-breaker, they have to convince their fellow district coaches to change the policy. It is that simple. Majority wins.
