I believe this region will be a tight race to the finish with JCS and FA being top contenders. VG, I saw where you think TCA will win, I really know nothing about the Lions, are they supposed to be tough; if so who will carry them through the season? I know that JCS returns some very talented skill positions players and I believe that FA will without question have the strongest lines; almost every one of their senior linemen and key defensive players have been starting since they were freshman. IMO they will be the strongest in that area. Although FA may be young in the skill positions I believe they have just as good of a chance as anyone else in this region. Good Luck to all of Region 8!

Actually I haven`t seen them play AC. But I have heard pretty good things about the good young players they had last year. I think JCS lost way too many good players last year, plus they have to find a new coach. I have no idea what FA will have, but I have been saying for a few years now that FA is ripe to really take off as more and more folks move into Fayette County from Shelby. I`m reaching on my TCA pick, but I do think they will be better. They had a lot of injuries last year as well. I`d pick FA over JCS because the Eagles lost a ton of good players.

The Eagles didn't lose anybody they can't replace! They are going to do just fine. That's what people said the year before last too but look what happened!

OK..we`ll see. I don`t think there is any way they do as well as last year. But good luck to them. This will be their last chance for awhile until they can build up to the level of play in their new 2A region for 2007.

TCA is a huge sleeper...last year was tough due to injuries and off the field problems. Look out for this team in '06...their first 4 games will tell the tale...

After watching TCA tonight, I will say they have improved, HOWEVER they will have a tough go winning the Region 8 title over JCS and Fayette Academy.

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
