Hey wes i agree with you but i'm trying to be real on the subject in that lake county in the region 7-1a will have a chance to win the district but this team isnt a title contender team. Why I say that is because the deph is a big problem with this program, it was a factor last year in the McKenzie game and it will be in the playoffs because who in the world on Lake County is goin to replace Springer or a Jones or a Copelin if one of these guys get hurt. Don't get me wrong but they will be replaced but the production, energy, and experience will be missed from a team that has about 30 players. Plus the cup cakes we play during the season doesn't prepare this team for a playoff game against a jcs or a Fayette Academy. Lake County will finsh 2nd or 3rd in the district but will be out by the first or second round of the playoffs.

I don't necessarily disagree with anything you said. I do, however, feel that if this team can pull their offense together, find some leadership and get excited about playing football, they can do some damage. The defense against the run will be as good as any 1A team in the state. If the offense can shake off the cobwebs that appear to have hindered them the first couple weeks of practice, it will be effective, too.

I do not think the best teams in Regions 5 and 6 are as strong as those in 7 and 8. Whoever emerges out of the third round among LC, McKenzie, UC, FA and JCS should be in the 'Boro. And if Lake County can find some enthusiasm and a strong will to win, I think they can be successful. But from where they are right now, they still have a ways to go.

South Pittsburg might be the best 1A but the valley come on! :thumb: Lets not talk crap this early after one, one quarter game.

I'm not just talking crap here. The facts are that SP's junior, sophomore, and freshmen have beat every team in this area, with every class winning their Jr. High Championships, and are still playing against the same kids, which makes them the best athletes & team in this area. I can name players, stats, etc. but the bottom line is SPEED, SPEED, SPEED.... It's gonna take us to the top!! Watch & be amazed.... :P:angry:

I agree, if the 24 you're referring to is the South Pittsburg 24.

If you are talking about #24 for South Pittsburg, I beg to differ. Robert Robinson rushed for 1,300 yards in 7 games as a sophomore oh yeah, and he was ALL STATE HONORABLE MENTION........ COWARD?? I don't think so.... :thumb:

South Pitt is WAY over-rated. People say we have a "weak region". Look at South Pitt's region! Silverdale, Copper Basin, Whitwell, Lookout Valley, Tennessee Temple, and Grace Baptist? Yeah, they're REAL world beaters!

The best team in 1a until somebody beats them is Trousdale County. Bottom line.

How can you say SP is over-rated??? :thumb: Yeah the region is weak but it's not like the other regions aren't!! Temple & Lookout Valley have stepped it up, so we have at least 2 teams that give a little competition. They'd beat any "weak" team in your region. And yes we are world beaters. We don't just play 1A schools, we'll play & beat anybody. No one has seen the talent that is the SOUTH PITTSBURG PIRATES. I'll take our win/loss record against anybodys! Trousdale has had their day... You'll be seeing orange & black for a long time to come.... :P

Just because someone is a pretty good running back doesnt mean they cant be a coward.

A Coalfield Crazy, huh? Now your comment makes sense... How many times have we put them out of the playoffs? How many state championships do you guys have? :P We have 3 state championships and have been runner-up 3 times... That speaks for itself....

I think they are 4th best in 1A behind Trousdale, Friendship, and South Pitt, in that order.

Finally! Somebody has made some sense of this. I would have to agree with your selection of teams. Trousdale, Friendship & South Pittsburg... don't know which order to put them in this year.... Guess time will tell....

To what number 24 are you refering to? The Pirates or who?? Your comment needs more info!!!!If you are refering about Pittsburgs 24 id say he wasnt a coward, he just likes attention.Trust me he'll get all the attention he needs from a bigger better player!!!!!!

#24 is one of the most intense, emotional players in the region. He's young, yeah, but give the kid some credit. For god's sake, he rushed for 1,300 yards as a sophomore in 7 games!! I'd like to meet the kid who thinks he can handle #24!!

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
