There are at least fifty different threads it seems like all on the same subject. What shocks me is that this many people are worried about who will be at the boro and arguing about who will be there than worrying about first games. I know our boys at friendship have thought about nothing but collinwood. You have got to take babysteps or you will trip trying to run. Start with arguments about who will win in week zero, then week one and so on...

I'm not just talking crap here. The facts are that SP's junior, sophomore, and freshmen have beat every team in this area, with every class winning their Jr. High Championships, and are still playing against the same kids, which makes them the best athletes & team in this area. I can name players, stats, etc. but the bottom line is SPEED, SPEED, SPEED.... It's gonna take us to the top!! Watch & be amazed.... :D:thumb:

Well...........NO. Not quite. In 2003 the SP Jr. High team lost to Whitwell, an area team, 20 - 18. They also lost to Bridgeport, another area team, 28 - 12. They didn't even make the championship game that year. Bridgeport went. Current varsity members on that team included D. Jones, Cody and Chase Robinson, Montrell Mitchell, Kartrez Bibbs, .........and many more. With Cody Walker moving up to high school, the present Junion/Sophmore class just couldn't get the job done in '03. Those same Whitwell kids are likely still around, just like the SP players are.

All i know is there is 11 weeks untill playoffs and whoerver it was that said "Whoever stays the healthiest will be the winner is right." There is too much time and way tooo much football to be played to be played to even talk about this. One injury and a top team gose to the bottom.

You can quote every state you want! I know for a fact that you lost a few of your best players to Marion. Just remeber the other team-mates that helped that few teams win those games.yes they do have speed ,but like someone quoted earlier, speed can kill!!! And as far as number 24 goes, hes a wanna be bullly on the field. Some one will but him on his back sooner or later. Like in the jamboree this weekend, he butted heads with number 24 from Marion and that player didnt back down from his bullying ways. Let him keep that temper up and someone will get him.

#24 is one of the most intense, emotional players in the region. He's young, yeah, but give the kid some credit. For god's sake, he rushed for 1,300 yards as a sophomore in 7 games!! I'd like to meet the kid who thinks he can handle #24!!

Did you watch the jamboree this weekend? Apparently he did,24 from Marion. Not only did he meet his match, fellow Pirates had to hold 24 Muir on one play to keep him from making a tackle to stop a td. As one player exited the field he made the comment that Muir #24 stunk. well why hold him on that perticular play if he stunk so bad. Aparently the Pirates respect him more than they let on . :thumb:

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
