Jo Byrns did not get beat as bad as what the score was. IMO, Jo Byrns would have given TC a better game the way they would have matched up. There is SOME bias in there and they probably would not have won. JBS this year...maybe not top 5 yet, but definately top 10.

Jo Byrns got beat pretty bad by Union City. Seems like Trousdale put about 50 on Union City. I think the winner from the East will destroy the best from the West. Its been along time since any of the 1a teams in regions 5 through 8 has won the state. I,m not including the private schools from the old region five before the multiplier. Thank God and Greyhound their gone.

The game was 10-7 at halftime, and JBS played there worst game of the season at the worst time. Mt. Pleasant was better then Union City, so u cant compare scores, and everyone knows that. But that was last season so anyways, JBS is a top 10 team now, they have to prove themselves b4 they move up.

I hardly doubt that Mt.Pleasant was better than Union City last year. The teams that represents regions 5 or 6 in the semi finals will lose again to a team from region 7 or 8.

Trousdale is still No. 1 until someone beats them. Period.

Union City is still No. 2 until a 1A team besides Trousdale beats them. Period.

After that, it's wide open. I don't think Union City will make it as far as they did last year, not after losing 20-something seniors and having their best returning player quit football to play baseball full-time (or so I heard). They could still win the region...or they could finish second or third. I fully expect three VERY close games involving UC, Lake County and McKenzie in the region 7-1A race. After all the good things I've been hearing about McKenzie, I'd almost be tempted to give them the edge right now, with LC second and UC third.

Friendship, South Pitt, Hampton, McKenzie, Fayette Academy and Lake County will all be right up there. Friendship, SP and Hampton have the toughest road to the 'Boro, though, because they still have to get through Trousdale to get there.

If I had to pick a championship game right now, I'd probably go with Trousdale vs. Fayette Academy, with TC winning big-time. But anyone that follows 1A ball knows this -- EVERYBODY is one or two key injuries away from disaster. The team that stays healthiest and gets luckiest may be the one to make it to the BCB.

South Pitt is WAY over-rated. People say we have a "weak region". Look at South Pitt's region! Silverdale, Copper Basin, Whitwell, Lookout Valley, Tennessee Temple, and Grace Baptist? Yeah, they're REAL world beaters! <_<

The best team in 1a until somebody beats them is Trousdale County. Bottom line.

to early to tell. I Know for a fact that Eagleville can contend with teams like South pitt and from what i hear Jo byrns is every bit as good as last year. Go region 5!

Hey wes i agree with you but i'm trying to be real on the subject in that lake county in the region 7-1a will have a chance to win the district but this team isnt a title contender team. Why I say that is because the deph is a big problem with this program, it was a factor last year in the McKenzie game and it will be in the playoffs because who in the world on Lake County is goin to replace Springer or a Jones or a Copelin if one of these guys get hurt. Don't get me wrong but they will be replaced but the production, energy, and experience will be missed from a team that has about 30 players. Plus the cup cakes we play during the season doesn't prepare this team for a playoff game against a jcs or a Fayette Academy. Lake County will finsh 2nd or 3rd in the district but will be out by the first or second round of the playoffs.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
