Down to the nitty gritty...

Week 8

Gibbs at Carter: What to think? The Eagles pulled out a win over Rutledge two weeks ago then got clipped by Claiborne last week. Carter is on the same roll they were a year ago and unless they get the lookaheads to next week's rematch with Fulton they should have no trouble.

Union Co. at Seymour: The Eagles stopped a three-game skid by pummelling Pigeon Forge last week while Union Co. has lost three of their last four after last week's 35-10 beatdown at the hands of the aforementioned Carter.

The Eagles are looking to keep in the hunt for a potential home playoff game and will be in top shape to handle a team they've never lost to.

Pigeon Forge at Rockwood: The Tigers (from Dolly Parton country) will make a desperate attempt to snap an 8-game losing streak dating back to last season when they travel to Roane County for their final non-region game of the year. The Tigers that wear green and white will be hoppin' mad after getting blanked by top-ranked Alcoa last week and should handle whatever PF throws at them.

Claiborne at Rutledge: This is for playoff position. This is for pride. This is as close to playoff atmosphere as you get for this week in the season.

The Pioneers got a week off to prepare for the Bulldogs and much like last season, the Bulldogs beat Gibbs after Gibbs tripped the Pioneers by a single point. This season, the game is at Optimist Field and the Pioneers have more than they did a year ago when they won their only region contest of the season. Should be a tight game, but the home team wins on Senior Night to take over control of second place behind Carter.
