Anyone see Greenville play in week 1? I think Boone will have to improve quite a bit from their game against South Greene if they want to compete against the Devils. Hopefully they will. Is Anderson County also a 3A team?

Anderson Co is 3A, but technically so is Greeneville.

Anderson County must be down, or Greeneville was hiding a lot early on....I wasnt High on the Greene Devils...

I don't think Greeneway saw much action in pre-season scrimmage or the jamboree due to a pulled groin. He completed 13 of 19 for 151 yds and a TD

to 7 different receivers. Greeneville has not had an effective passing game in some time so it surely caught AC off guard. Mostly, Greeneville owes most of its success to executing their offensive scheme and avoiding costly penalties on both sides of the ball.

I did not realize that South Greene is just 2A. I guess Boone thinks it is more important to start the season with an easy win than to play someone hard to get you ready for the play-offs.

Last year when we beat South Greene it was the only game they lost, i wouldn't consider them a push over just because of the size school they have.

They were 8-3 last year and lost in the 1st round of the play-offs. They may not be a push over, but look at the teams they did beat. Take a look at some of the really good teams in this area and look at their non-region games. Tennessee High, South, and Elizabethton all play D-B. D-B plays out of their region against Oak Ridge. Morristown West plays Jefferson County and Knox West. Cloudland and Hampton both step up and play 4A teams. The list goes on. I love Boone, but I know beating South Greene means nothing and it does not help get you ready to play the top teams in your region.

The score should have been worse. Inside the 2 yard line twice and failed to score (fumble & INT), and inside the 5 yard line twice and missed FG's. The offense looked good, but I was more impressed with the D. They shut AC down.

If it should have been worse, it would have been worse. Turnovers and missed field goals are part of the game.

I believe the last time Greeneville had an effective passing game was in '02 when cody baugh was QB and i think the older greenway was a receiver...dang they were good that year they beat us pretty good that year i believe they beat DB that year too...

Last time I checked you aren't on the coaching staff or the roster so you "know" nothing about why we play South Green.

The size of the school does not matter on how good the team is. In my honest opinion MoWest should be a 5A school. They have 103 (I may be wrong on that number) players. Boone has about 25 that actually play, while MoWest has people coming in all the time giving their team-mates breaks. The reason a small team does good is because they have the skill and the "want to win" attitude. So no, the size of the school does not matter of the skill you have. Another example is Hampton, small school, great team. Boone is a small 4A team and winning a game against a smaller team like South Greene doesn't mean they won a game and will not gain anything from it other than a W. If you beat any team you are doing something right. To sum it all up, the size of the team doens't matter on how hard they play or how good they are, the only thing that matters is the time and effort you put in to win the game. So nice job Boone on starting the season off against a GOOD and SMALL team, a win is a win and don't let somebody take that away.

    • I believe that was last year. I was interested in the Jones vs Baker comment, so I went back and looked at GC. I am not a fan of either nor am I a baseball guru. This looks like to me the duel was not close and if the errors would not have been made Eagleville would have won. I assume you are a little biased. I do think your mph for Jeffcoat and Baker must be from last year.  Baker-85 pitches 67 strikes. 5.2 innings, 5H, 1BB, 0ER and 7K's. 3 errors  Jones- 78 pitches 37 strikes. 4 innings, 2H, 5BB, 0ER and 1K. 1 error   Adams and the UH kid are really good as well. What about South Pitt and Oakdale? I heard they have some good ones.
    • I hate this for all the kids in the program and fans alike. I can't recall of anything like this before in my lifetime but I'm sure it isn't a first. After criminal investigations are complete and the TSSAA looks into this the program it will be facing Nuclear Winter for some time to come. It's always the innocent left behind that end up paying the price for something someone else has done. I'm sure the transfer portal will be very active in Clinton over the summer months. How could you find a good coach worth his salt that would take on a situation like this not knowing what will happen.
    • I’ve seen Jeffcoat in person twice and he was 84-87 both times and the one time I saw Baker he was low 80’s, he actually got out dueled by Jones from ER in that outing.
    • Pirate fans, thread is up on the baseball message board.
