I got that off the television broadcast of the game with Bascilio, Overstreet and Beano commentating. I know they are awful, but one of them was trying to give Halls some credit and pointed out that fact.

oh, ok, I missed the broadcast. That's a lot. I wonder if any of those players are standouts or anything? You'd think with 83 young pups like that that there'd at least be 1 or 2 studs. I wonder if someone can help us out with this

Halls is paying a huge price for leaving the backdoor open for several years. Worse than transfers though is the fact that many athletes, over the last several years, just didn't come out for football due to apathy. It will not get fixed overnight but numbers are going back up both in high school and in the youth leagues.

As far as transfers, there are still several freshmen "strays" and my best guess is less than 10 8th graders. Once they leave, they rarely come back. Too much pride is at stake (usually for the parents). It may take a couple of years to completely "get back to where we should be" (To me, that is competing in every game we play in with a region title every so often) but we are getting there.

Halls fans; be patient.

Everybody else; enjoy it while it lasts and prepare to see fewer players coming to you from this side of Black Oak Ridge.

For now....

Maybe we will get back to what has been a great rivalry next year.

The thing I saw on that broadcast of the SC game was that Halls played hard throughout. They never quit, although you could see they were getting frustrated at times. I was impressed with your RB Kelly. Also, I thought the LBs did a pretty good job. SC was a senior dominated team and you could tell that all those sophs on Halls were getting worn out, physically and mentally, as the game went on. As the season moves on and in the next couple of years to come, that probably won't happen as the kids get game experience and also get bigger and stronger.

Hope there is a good crowd at Halls.

I agree Reese Kelly was one of the bright spots in the running game.

What happend to John Pevy I never saw his name called all night and were did Dayton go after the first quarter? Is he still injured?

Halls will have a very tough game with rivals Central. I think this will be a snoozer in the second half.

Central 38 Halls 10. Doesnt seem to be what it used to be, anymore. A couple of breaks might make it intresting, after all it "IS" a rivalry game. Harrumph.....

Hi ZCAR,

I didn't get to go to the game last Friday. One person told me that Dayton is still in some pain and took himself out early. I didn't hear about Pevy. I heard that Halls played hard. If the offense could have done anything we could have been up big early. I am not sure how true that is. I am sure of one thing; Halls will play hard this Friday. Unfortunately, skill usually wins out. But.....there is that one game every once in a while. Sometimes effort and teamwork can work wonders.

You are probably pretty close on the score.

Go Big Red!!!

    • Im asking everyone to keep roy whited and his family in your prayers. Coach whited won back to back state championships at white county in 98-99. He is very well liked and respected in this area. For those of you that dont know he went missing 3 days ago. No one knows where he is. His truck was found in a rural part of the county. Thanks again. We are all very concerned.
    • West would be a good team to get behind if they can pull it off again like last year. That championship game last year was awesome.
    • I say that because he stepped out of a MUCH better situation on his own than he would see at least his first 3 years at DCA and it would take at least that much to bring him back to coaching. There are other fish in the sea, but again money talks. Need to fix the girls hoops too. Now I'll try again. Who has Pierce locked in for his staff? Hearing a McGavock man but not the Iceman.
    • I’ve heard mostly good things from the gridiron. Lots of optimism. It sounds like the portal has mostly helped, though there are a few expected defections. Comeback year!
    • Rudesell 1 year at Crockett. Coach Tate 2 weeks a Bradford. South Gibson supposedly going with jcs middle school coach. Which isn’t who I thought would get it, I know the top 2 was between him and Obion girls head coach.
