Come on down guys, we would love to have ya. I am not the best with directions but I will try. You want to get on Lamar and head south. It turns into I78. There are a couple of Exits you will pass. The one you want to take is Olive Branch/305 exit. When you get off the ramp turn left on highway 305. The first intercetion you come to turn right onto sandidge. There is a huddle house right there where you turn. The high school is just over the hill on the left. You will want to get there at least two hours early to guarantee yourself a seat. Park where ever you can. If you see an open space grab it quick. I don't usually deal with parking myself, cause I live on the next street over. I just walk to the games. Should be well over 10 thousand people there. We do alot of tailgating for the bigger games, so come on by and join us.

Do you know anything about the situation with your QB, how did he transfer from cbhs to OB. I thought he was a senior last year at cbhs?

Dp6Fan,

This is not a slap at Germantown....

Germantown is absolutely too one-dimensional to compete against South Panola! Sure, Gtwn throws the ball occasionally. By-in-large, though, they're a running team. They have never excelled at passing the ball.

Here's a strange twist for you: While Gtwn blasted Whitehaven, Whitehaven would actually pose a bigger threat to South Panola than Gtwn! Why? Because Whitehaven has a formidable passing game (at least with their starting QB) and more athletes than Gtwn.

No, I ain't sayin' that Whitehaven would actually BEAT S. Panola; just that they'd likely be more competitive. That's all.

I'm not sure that any area team can actually beat South Panola; I would wager that MANY teams (including those that could not even beat Gtwn) would fare much better vs S. Panola than Gtwn did these last 2 years! For instance, Carver. They're a small 2A school, with a lot of athletes.....Last year, Carver lost to S. Panola 39-20. Yet, 5A school Gtwn (who was a much better team ovearall than Carver, btw) got humiliated by S. Panola 40-10.

In other words, lowly Carver fared 2 TD's better vs S. Panola than Gtwn did. Trust me, that's no accident!

Here's the point: Given the talent and athleticism of S. Panola, it's gonna take a team that has the athletes, especially at the skill positions (RB, WR, CB, etc), to actually spread the field and make plays. Germantown simply does not have enough of those type players. Conversely, there are a number of Memphis teams that come to mind, besides Carver. Take your pick...

Finally, I commend Gtwn for having the guts to compete vs National power S. Panola. There's no shame to losing to such a talented squad. Nobody else could beat them, either! Heck, they've won--what....nearly 50 games in a row? That stat is no fluke. It's for real.

Trader, thanks for the props but i must disagree with you on one point. our guys were not humiliated. the whole reason you schedule teams such as s/p is to make yourself better. We learned alot about ourselves this year and last year. The experience helped us become a better ball club and gave us detrmination to make it into the playoffs. I believe it will only inspire this young team to be better competitors through out this year. Even the smallest victories at team level or personal level against competition such as south panlola can prove invaluable throughout the season.

i look forward to your post. You are very insightful regarding memphis area football.

I believe that he had a medical condition that made him miss a semester of school. The state of Tennessee wouldn't give him the term he missed, back. Mississippi has a medical hardship rule that allowed him to play here. He will be enrolling at the University of Memphis in the Spring Semester.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
