Slick Rick says this is a board to talk Tennessee high school football. Slick Rick says no one really cares about teams from the state of Alabama. Slick Rick says go to CoachA.com if you want to talk Alabama high school football.

Slick Rick says the Marion/SP game is one of the best.

You crack me up!!! I can't read CoachA.com. Can you??

Are you old enough to remember when Jasper and SP played B'port and Stevenson. Get your daddy to tell you about it  Some intense football.

There is no doubt SP/Jasper is at the top.

That's back when Bridgeport and Stevenson (now North Jackson) were still in the mix. Good times

Painting that rock orange on Battery Hill overlooking the TN River in Bridgeport, AL was a blast!!! The BP police new it was going to happen and couldn't stop it. :)

Edit: For those that forgot the old stateline rivalries or are too young, Stevenson was Maroon and White (Panthers) and Brideport was blue & gold (tigers). B'Port was 3 miles away and Stevenon ~10. Those were bitter fueds. The only 2 games that could compare were:

1. Jasper/South Pittsburg

2. B'Port/Stevensen

Actually back then I was painting the "rock" back blue and gold again. It was pretty cool to have 3 big rivalry games a year. The B'port - SP game got pretty heated at times.

ONEIDA AND COALFIELD IS ALWAYS A BARN BURNER IN 1A :D

Yeah ole' Eddie V. still tells me stories about Greenback vs. Vonore. He told be about them carving a huge V in our field and we set cows to graze in their field. I heard about Vonore having a thing where the students bought an old broken down car and Painted Teddy Jonses's name on it and then beat the crap out of it. He also mentioned the fight that vonore and greenback got in that one year. Sounded pretty ugly. Our rivalry we had with Midway, in my opinion, was because we had an 11 year winning streak on them until my soph. year. Then we were just embarassed and a rivalry spawned from it. Oneida and Coalfield were always big games. As far as I can remember Greenback Oneida and Colafield have always consistently been the top 3 teams in region 2 1A. However, other teams made a good run here and there, but those 3 were usually the team to beat. I remember getting beat by midway and sunbright my soph. year. Many of the players from those teams were crying. tears of joy. It actually made me feel good knowing how much it meant to them to beat us.

The players from Sunbright weren't crying because they beat you, they were crying tears of joy because they had just clinched the region championship. They could have lost to Oneida the next week and still been region champs.

Yea thats true about the fight. There is still like 1:45 seconds to go in that game with Vonore. It started with about 3:00 min. left in the game and got so bad that even their fans was jumping the fence to start fights. They had to be escorted back to Vonore by police. This was back in 1985! GOD I MISS THAT BATTLE

personally im a fan of the little known JCS and Fayette Academy rivalry that game was pretty intense but this also doesnt stand for just football in all sports even though the scores may not be close sometimes doesnt mean there is any respect going either way

NCS vs Jo Byrns even though it wasnt a game for NCS these past two years cause Jo Byrns has dominated but still a good rivalry. NCS vs Mcewen(sp?) sorry I think we know the history between these two teams. But still I have the up most respect for those two teams.
