Huge game this week. Obviously, BA is the favorite. MBA did get a confidence building win last week, but BA will present a far greater challenge than did Ryan. MBA's defense will have to play at the same level as last week, intensity-wise, and possibly need to create some turnovers. Offensively, MBA will need to come up with some more wrinkles on offense to get pst the Eagles. The loss of Chris Jordan will certailnly hurt BA, but Tyree Ford is a more than capable replacement. One should never count MBA and Rutledge out. I will be interested to see what he can come up with offensively this week. Should be a great environment as always. Did BA ever put in bleachers on the visitors(home, in their case) sideline? Roll Red!

Nope. Same seating arrangements as always.

I would agree with your take...if MBA is going to win this one, it is going to have to do so on the backs of the defense, probably including some turnovers. If our O was only capable of producing 7 points vs. FRHS, I can't imagine doing much better than that v. BA without some "cheap" points (short field, special teams play, etc.). There is clearly some talent there but just lots of inexperience where you hope to have it least. In a short, ugly game, anything is possible, and I hope that is how the coaches gameplan.

On a sidenote, on some other threads some are saying this is definitely Flatt's last year. If that's the case, you know his team will want to send him out a winner in this rivalry game. Lots of emotion...

Possibly not enough MBA horses are there this year, but they were not there in the 2002 Clinic Bowl either. I agree the Rutledge factor can not be forgotten. The BA horses are more than there but just have not played anywhere close to expectations. So not much comfort level for me.

It just keeps getting better at Carlton Flatt Field. We continue to share our home bleachers with our guests AND no more long hikes for the players. The new athletic building is field-side!

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
