Who is in the running? Heard names like Tharp and Stacey? When does the application process take place? Its going to be hard to get someone willing to try and clean up two messes, and why little town support? Made it to two ball games and the atmosphere was not the marshall county football i remember in 80's 90's even then the tigers had down years but the people of the town were behind them.

Marshall County uses a committee process. New coach should be in place by March 1. Former OC Tommy Tharp is a local favorite. Fairview Head Coach would also get a strong look if interested.

IMHO, I think the lack of support (which is the basis of a lot of the problem) falls back to the administration. No support... it seems to me as an onlooker that the football program at MC is a bother to the admin. B) There is sooo much potential for honest and awesome support and there is also sooo much talent on that team! After the lack of support at the school level, there is MORE lack higher up! WJ has been lined up with HUGE barriers to success.. Not there there aren't other problems and things that I think he maybe could tighten up on, but when faced with those type of barriers, MC needs an athletic politician! :)

just an observation! B)

I just hope they hire somebody who is a good fit for the players and not who the community whats. They always seen to forget about the players, the most important part of any program.

What are they doing with the players while the search is on, seeing that everything is kinda out of order right now. I hope they are lifting and preparing themselves for next year. Any layoff could equal another losing season.

HOPE THEY DON'T FORGET ABOUT OUR PLAYERS!!! :thumb:

Over the weekend heard Beau Fullertons name dropped a couple of times. He's from Marshall been coaching at Cookeville High. Has anyone heard if he's applied or not?

Beau would be a good one. Here is another name for you to think about: Jacob Sorrells. He is Beau's cousin I believe. He is the defensive coordinator at Giles County. He has done a great job with their defense this year. He is a Lincoln County graduate and MTSU alum and has some head coaching experience. Great, young, energetic candidate.

I think that MC needs some one who has the guts to stand up for what is right both on and off the field... During the Edens years MC was a power in all sports... and that had a lot to do with all the coaches supporting each others respective sports. I think that some one with that type of mentality would be a great asset to a struggling MC athletic program. Ahy word on the other football coaches and their futures?

;)

    • It was not ACHS at all, they have zero reason to worry about Clinton.  It had to do with a kid (non football player)  that had a charge and appeared in front of the juvenile judge.  The judge saw that the kid was way behind credit wise for his grade and told him to reappear in a month with a plan to graduate.  When the kid reappeared he had more that twice the credits than one month before.  The judge called BS and contacted the school.  That is what started the investigation.  This involves multiple students, but to this point no athletes are involved.
    • I believe the Covington Chargers travel to Trenton Peabody for a scrimmage today? Anyone going to this? Curious how the Chargers will do.
    • Good ole Bradley Zulliger. He was a really good QB @ OR. Fun to watch.  Wore #15 and was like a mini Tebow, with the exception of being right handed. He could take a pounding and keep on ticking. Played with a collapsed lung against Powell that year. Tough as nails.
    • They should be pretty good in year two for Rang.  Replacing most of the offensive production losing Dozier, Hayward and Rembert , but they're are skill kids in place ready for their shot.  I know I say this every year, but the o line should show improvement after two years in Rang and Kevin Day's weight program.  I still would favor West over Plow and OR come November.  The Rebs will have to grow up a bunch between now and then, and will probably take some lumps along the way with that schedule.  But I predict come playoff time they will be ready.   One of their coaches half joked to me that they could go 5-5 regular season and win the state championship.  Ha ha.
