COACH.X
OH this is lovely weather for the start of football practice. I never missed August practice but I sure miss being out there on Friday night. Riverdale players looked like they were excited to be in pads this morning. looks like they had well over one hundred players on the practice field. how many do they normally have? Lost Old Dad
OH this is lovely weather for the start of football practice. I never missed August practice but I sure miss being out there on Friday night. Riverdale players looked like they were excited to be in pads this morning. looks like they had well over one hundred players on the practice field. how many do they normally have? I have seen as many as 127 but it thins out as the temps rise and the real hitting starts. Of course having to run the snake a couple of times thins the herd also. With the early practice times when it is not really hot may slow down the thinning process though. That is the one thing I have to give Coach Rankin is that R'dale was always ready for the heat in the early games. Gonna be interesting if this crew is also. Aug and Sept games are generally very hot affairs.
LHS79
The only thing that everyone must remember is that the seniors on the WC team went undefeated as Freshmen. So I guess we will all see who has gotten better the last 3 years.
2priceless
If anyone crosses off any team in this region as an easy win, I think they will learn the hard way. Many teams with enormous potential. We all know an injury to a key player can put any of our teams in peril.

2priceless
You could be right. I am sure that tdntn will come on and enlighten us all as he was a member of that Riverdale freshman squad.
tdntn
You could be right. I am sure that tdntn will come on and enlighten us all as he was a member of that Riverdale freshman squad. we scrimmaged WC twice that year but when the season came they didnt want to play us...we ended up having a 6 game schedule but hendersonville was added at the end of the season, and then we got invited to to the lions bowl and played columbia. we ended up playing like 3 games in 9 days. btw smyrna did beat us that year but when we faced them it was their 3rd game and our 1st game. they had been playing since week 0 and we didnt start playing til week 2 because our varsity opened that season in week 1 on a thursday night (usually the night freshman are to play) against CPA. had some blown oppurtunities, lost the lead in the very last minute of the game. I knew you would shed light on this....thanks!!! I thought every team in the region had to play each other, even the freshmen??? The only way I thought it didn't happen was if a gamne got cancelled and they couldn't get it back in b/f the last game of the season. I know the varsity usually has their eyes on some of the freshmen to join the ranks for the remainder of the season, and they also like the frosh coaches to help them out too. So possibly that factored in? Truthfully, I think they didn't want to have to tangle with Riverdale though.
