LaRoche was dealt to Pittsburgh for lefty reliever Mike Gonzalez. The Braves will most likely use Gonzalez in the setup role.

As with any trade, only time will tell. But I have to think that the Pirates made themselves a pretty good deal here.

Pirates need a good hitter and LaRoche had a great yr last yr.

Braves will be back on top this season... Last year was a wake-up call.

The Braves have probably the best farm system in the Majors and will have a good replacement for LaRoche when the season begins......Whether it be Thorman or someone from AAA....

From the way I have heard, Gonzalez will be the closer as he went 24/24 in saves last season! The Braves are also getting a player to be names later out of that trade! The Braves signed 1b Craig Wilson last week to give Thurman some competition at 1st!

Wickman will be the closer but I wouldn't be suprised to see Gonzalez get a few saves too.....The player to be named has already been acquired. His name is Brent Lillibridge, he's a SS....

I think this was a good trade both ways, Braves got help in the bullpen and the Pirates got a bat...

 

I sure hope last year was a wake up call..

The big three are Wickman, Soriano, and Gonzalez! Then you have some young guys that came on strong down the stretch in MaCay McBride, Tyler Yates, Lance Cormier, Chad Paranto, and Oscar Villareal! Then they signed Tanyon Sturtze would could be a real boost out of the BP!
