The best freshman in my opinion, hands down, is Lauren Avant from Lausanne in Memphis. She was offered a scholarship and has already committed to play for Pat Summitt and the Tennessee Lady Vols (about a month ago) and was recruited by UConn, Duke and everyone else. She's the top player in the WHOLE COUNTRY in the class of 2010 and was the only 8th grader or freshman to make Street and Smith's All-American team. She's the best by a mile...

Where would you put Olivia Maddox and Jasmine Newsome in this discussion?

I am not questioning that Lauren Avant is the best Freshman in Tennessee and in the nation. She probably is. I do question that she was offered a scholarship by UT and that she has been recruited by colleges. If that is so, then they have violated NCAA rules. You can't do those things to a Freshman. They may have shown interest, but they cannot contact her yet.

Wow! It's on the Lady Elite website and everything.

So did Pat offer her the scholarship personally? How did they make contact with a 8th grader? What happened to the "Sept 1st of their Jr year in high school rule"?

I remember her from last year, I heard she was a really good ball player and I don't question the fact that she's the best in Tn, but there are others in Tn that I can think of that are pretty good themselves as freshmen...

Ferris from Smith Co, Leonard from RBS, and Reed from Crange...that's a few of that I know are good...

But the topic says "What about TN's Top Freshman"...It didn't say Freshmen who didn't play as an 8th grader, True Freshmen, or First year high schoolers...It just said Freshmen...She's a Freshmen, she's one of the best, so I can include her... ^_^ ...and yes she has more experience that incoming freshmen to go along with other experienced ball players, so that's what makes RBS as good as they are this year...And just if your implying it, NO she has not been held back at all...She started and will complete 13 years of school...not 14...Not saying your accusing, but just clearing it up just incase...

Was not accusing or implying that she had been held back..... Was just saying that she has more experience in high school ball than the other freshman do so it wouldn't be a fair comparison, and yes I agree she is a good player, probably one of the best because of her extra experience!!!!!!!!!!!!

If this has happened,it is in violation of TSSAA rules and NCAA rules, and Pat Summit is not stupid.
